The lobby was grand in a Chinese way and the room (and carpet, often a problem) was clean and well-maintained. The in-town location was what we were looking for and was quiet. The TV had only local stations in Chinese, surprising for a business hotel; the hotel was used chiefly by Chinese and foreign tour groups while we were there. The receptionist had trouble finding our reservation because it was listed not under my name but rather under my title: Prof. This made for a few moments of anxiety after a long day of travel but the HotelTravel.com reservation coupon did the trick. My local friends felt I got a good deal via HotelTravel.com as this hotel is regarded locally as very upscale and expensive.

The hotel is value for money, except for the location. It is quite a distance from Taichung train station, about 15mins by taxi. There is nothing much in the surrounding area and no shuttle bus provided by hotel to city center. But it's a good stay in general if one does not mind taking taxi or local buses around.

Quite a decent hotel for the price! King Size bed was good! Worth considering.

the staff could speak english and were polite, the rooms had very uncomfortable pillows, too thick, the swimming pool is not really a pool but like a big bath tub

Aircon was not working properly.... bathroom not as clean.....

Hotel was very clean and pleasent. It was also great to be staying at a hotel that employed many people with good english skills. I did not get to use many of the hotel's facilities but from my first impressions I am sure that they would have been ok.
