The lobby was grand in a Chinese way and the room (and carpet, often a problem) was clean and well-maintained. The in-town location was what we were looking for and was quiet. The TV had only local stations in Chinese, surprising for a business hotel; the hotel was used chiefly by Chinese and foreign tour groups while we were there. The hotel requires some make-over. It is old and service was poor. It was indicated in the room that each guest will be given 2 bottles of mineral water but only 2 bottles were given for the room of 3 pax. When requested, there was some hesitation and bargain before we were given 2 bottles each. The air-condition of the room was not functioning well. THe air-con was turned on from the time we checked-in in the afternoon at about 2pm till 9pm but the room was still warm. We have to remove my baby's clothes to cool her down. When we checked-in in the afternoon, we seeked help from the housekeeping person, she claimed that the room was cooled enough but she was standing along the passage way not anywhere near to where we would sleep (the bed). It was after we returned to the hotel at about 9pm that we requested for a room to be changed. It was after quite a while of explanation that we were given a cooler room. This hotel was rated 4 stars but the service and the quality of the room are not comparable to 3-stars hotels that I have stayed in in Kaohsiung and Taipei during the same trip to Taiwan.

The hotel is value for money, except for the location. It is quite a distance from Taichung train station, about 15mins by taxi. There is nothing much in the surrounding area and no shuttle bus provided by hotel to city center. But it's a good stay in general if one does not mind taking taxi or local buses around.

Hotel was very clean and pleasent. It was also great to be staying at a hotel that employed many people with good english skills. I did not get to use many of the hotel's facilities but from my first impressions I am sure that they would have been ok.
