
Throughout the beautiful mountainous terrain of Zermatt and surrounding areas, some truly magnificent and stunning scenery can be seen. The small village of Poschiavo offers history and heritage with its 15th century Gothic churches and patrician-styled houses. In addition, the charming streets of Zermatt have interesting sights, including the climber’s cemetery which has memorials for fallen climbers.

Bernina Pass
The Bernina Pass is the high mountain range which separates Switzerland and Italy. There is a railway that travels along the spectacular terrain and offers magnificent views of both countries.

Climber’s Cemetery
Situated in the village of Zermatt, behind Saint Peter’s Church, the climber’s cemetery is a fascinating place to visit with memorials to climbers that have fallen in the surrounding mountains. Seeing the age of some of the climbers and the thought provoking inscriptions on the head stones is interesting.

Gornergrat Bahn
Though not the steepest or highest mountain train, the Gornergrat Bahn is truly spectacular with breathtaking views of the surrounding areas while the cogwheel train clings to the mountain’s edge. Once at the top, there is a charming restaurant and bar to hang out in while enjoying the picturesque mountain peaks.

Poschiavo
Just a short drive from Zermatt on the south side of the Bernina Pass, the quaint and charming town of Poschiavo can be found. The central area is made up from six separate villages. There are some beautiful sights to see, including a 17th-century town hall, a 15th- to 16th- century Gothic church and an array of elegant patrician houses.

Rothorn Mountain
With a peak of over 3,048 metres, Rothorn Mountain is a spectacular viewing point for the famous Matterhorn. An enjoyable gondola ride takes you close to the top and a cable car travels to the peak where the mountain restaurant and bar has a beautiful terrace and truly spectacular views.
