Tea Factory has been converted from a tea factory built by the British Raj decades ago and retains its original appearance on the outside. Within its four spacious levels howevder luxury prevails. Situated at an elevation of 6,800 ft. with a breathtaking view of undulating green mountains and Hethersett tea gardens - the home of several rare species of birds, and flora is makes for an ideal choice.

Location is spectacular - when it's clear. We walked the local area and were hit upon by some local kids. I would suggest that if you plan to explore the surrounding fields / plantations that you take pens / pencils to hand out to the accompanying kids - better than cash
My wife had issues at the breakfast buffet. Trying to get hard boiled eggs with only a runny yoke is difficult - as it actually is in all Sri Lankan hotels. Best to forcefully tell them how long to boil the eggs for
The main shared areas of the hotel are quite magnificent. The rooms are small'ish, and the floor boards creek so if anyone is staying above you, you'll here them. Terrible road leading to the place also
Overall, incredibly picturesque position, not much to do in the immediate area - hence 1 day is enough - and the noise travels too much between rooms

Tea factory is the worst 4 star hotel we ever stayed.
The food taste are so poor that we could not bear it. I dont know wheter it is western food, indian food, SL food or Chinese food or just a strange mixture?
My husband feel very angry when the restaurant manager rudely stop him getting food from buffet table and crustily ask my husband to stay at seat until the guy come to us. And we wait a long time until someone come to serve us. This really distory our good feeling on this hotel.
However the manager in lobby is very good.
Although the hotel is not very far away from Nuwara Eliya (just a few KMs) but the road is so terribly bad that it takes us a long time.
This hotel also did not have many facility. for example, they have SPA but the door is lock while it is open hour and when I saw through window, a guy is sitting and making a private call (maybe).
No swimming pool. Only a small bar and a England style garden.
Next time, certainly, we would Not select this hotel.
