A terrible access road was an inauspicious start to our stay in Jan 06, however the hotel was friendly, the pool and grounds are beuatiful and the food was of a high standard. Rooms are quaint if a little tired, probably should be better for the $'s. The ayurveda menu is limited and the treatments a little ho hum. All made up for by the nice atmosphere and stunning setting. Do visit the cave temples in Dambulla - we were impressed. Note it can rain hard - even in the Jan dry season,

We had three relaxing days here, wonderfull grounds and setting. Buffet expensive and not as good as other hotels ,snacks are better value. Its miles to anywhere else to eat so you dont have much choice.
