We totally enjoyed our stay here. On arrival at reception we were greeted by the friendly staff who spoke excellent english. On asking for a room with a view the changes were made without any fuss and we were put on the sixth floor. This was perfect as we were just a floor down from the rooftop pool which was spotlessly clean. We ate in the restauraunt on a few occasions which had a varied menu with gorgeous food. Great hotel with metro just down the road and would definately stay here again on returning to Barcelona....

We stayed at four different hotels during our trip through Spain, and the Aston was only slightly less expensive than our excellent hotel in Madrid. It had none of the charm, none of the style, and was essentially just a place to put our heads for the night. But, our first rooms were on the top floor-steet side, and were VERY hot even at midnight, and quite loud. We were moved, without complaint from the staff, to a lower floor, courtroom which was much quieter and much colder--TOO cold at midnight. I know I sound like Goldilocks, but the in room thermostat was purely decorative, and as I sat in the lobby using the free wireless (thanks, free; no thanks, weak connections and only in lobby) I heard guest after guest complaining about the temperature in their rooms one way or another. Also, a bizarre low moaning sound was heard almost continuously--was that the elevators? And at certain times, a repeated rhythmic thumping was clearly audible though the walls. Other than the close availability to the subway system, there's no particular reason to stay here. I certainly would not do so again.
