Airports

Almeria International Airport is the chief gateway not only to the city of Almeria, but to the province of the same name. The airport is situated eight kilometres from the city and maintains connections with domestic cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Melilla and Palma de Mallorca as well as links with various EU cities. From the UK there are flights by Monarch Airlines from Luton, Birmingham and Manchester, and from London Stansted with Ryanair.

The airport’s single, three-level terminal is equipped with ATMs, bureaux de change, information desks, regular and duty-free shopping outlets, and a variety of dining outlets. Buses and shuttles provide transportation for the short distance between the airport and the city. Taxis are also on hand from outside the Arrivals area. There are also car hire companies in the terminal for passengers preferring to make their own way to the city.

Public Transport

The city is easily reached by road with access from the east and west provided by the A7 (E15) and from the north by the A92. Getting to the city by bus from countries in the EU is possible via a combination of Eurolines bus services (www.eurolines.com) and regional bus services.

For transportation around the city and to other cities in the province, there are regular buses commencing service from the central bus station. Buses are operated by a number of different companies and services are both cheap and reliable. Taxis (white cabs) are also available from stands located at key destinations around the city or by hailing them in the street. Car hire is a convenient means of getting to see the best of the city and the surrounding province.
