Like most hotels in Korea, the Sofitel dissapoints. The room's tired decor was motel quality. A big room and adaquate, but not worth $130 paid. Location is a plus. The staff was also helpful and spoke English well. For the area this is about as good as you can get. I would recommend, but lower your expectations.

I lived here during my first trip to Seoul from San Francisco. This place is very close to all the happenings. Iatewon is just $3-4 away in taxi if you wish to take it really late at night. Very close to subway and very close to university, restaurants etc. The rooms and services were excellent. Last day during my stay, I felt sick and the hotel staff took good care of me. However, if you are budget traveller like me, I will recommend many other cheaper places in Iatewon or in city center.
