Bicycle: The close proximity of most of the attractions and the relative flatness of the area around Gyeongju makes bicycles an enjoyable and practical form of transportation, in the right season of course. There are several roads for bicycles only. Over a dozen shops in the downtown area alone rent bikes by the day or hour.
Bus: Gyeongju has two bus terminals (express bus and intercity bus) next to each other, near the Hyeongsan River. Local buses travel throughout the area, and you can find one going to almost every tourist destination.
Taxi: Taxis can be hailed in the street. If your time is limited and you want to cover a lot of ground, you can also hire taxis for the day; however the drivers generally speak Korean only.
Train: The Gyeongju Train Station lies along the Daegu Line (between Daegu and P'ohang). Bulguksa Station lies along the Jungang Line which goes to Seoul and Busan.
High-speed trains do not currently serve Gyeongju, in part because the Gyeongbu Line does not pass through the city. However, high-speed service will be available after the completion of the Daegu-Busan portion of the KTX line, scheduled for 2010.
Although Gyeongju does not have its own airport, the area is within 1 1/2 hours of four regional airports. Kimhae (Busan) International, P'ohang, Daegu, and Ulsan Airports all have shuttle buses that run between the airports and Gyeongju on a regular schedule.
