Castles
Slovenia is blessed with some really enchanting castles that seem as if they belong in a classic fairy tale. The Kurentovanje Carnival:each year the town of Rtuj hosts one of the most prominent traditional events in Central Europe. The spectacle opens with a procession of traditional Slovene masks believed to chase away the cold winter and bring back spring. After dark, the town lights up and numerous theatre and art performances take place. Adriatic Coastline
Another feather in the cap of Slovenia is its lovely coast along the Adriatic Sea. Beach towns along this coast range from Italian flavoured Koper with its medieval architecture to Piran, which is often compared to Venice. Visitors will find the best beach at Fiesa thanks to its restriction on boats, its soft sand and great views of Miramare Castle in Italian Trieste. Slovenia is considered one of the safest countries in Europe, and rarely presents travellers with any problems. Theft and violence are not normal in this stable, friendly nation, but as with any new destination visitors should exercise the usual precautions concerning their cash and valuables. Most theft occurs on crowded public transport or at popular tourist sites. When visiting these areas, keep a close eye on your bags and don’t flash large amounts of money. If you encounter any trouble or need to report a crime simply call the local police and they will come and assist you.
