Scarlet Hotel opened in December 2004. Nestled amidst the vibrant Club Street community of creative agencies, specialty shops, boutique spas, trendy restaurants and cafes, wine bars, antiques shops and art galleries, The Scarlet provides a completely different 5-star experience. Inside, a variety of textures and colours are matched almost in willful contradiction, to provide a mood which is dramatic, daring and bold.

Tiny room but cute and richly decorated. A little noisy too. Lovely breakfast - a nice change from the usual hotel buffets. All in all fairly pleasant alternative to the big chain hotels.

My second time at the Scarlet, and apart from my booking request to have a ground floor room either ignored or forgotten, I was happy.Good location, and staff try hard to please.

the room was without windows...for having it, it was necessary pay more.
During the reservation there wasn't written anywhere that the room was blind; so the cost for a blind room was realy expensive. The noise from the other rooms was excessive.

I chose this hotel because it is close to our office. This was the sole criteria I used. There are no windows for the rooms on the first floor. The hotel did, however, upgrade my room for whatever reason which I appreciated.

The overall excellent experience I had at the Scarlet was somewhat spoiled by the dirty state of the 'hospitality room' shower I used before heading to the airport. This is a free and most welcome service if your plane leaves late at night, but equal attention needs to be paid to this bathroom as to the bathrooms in the rooms. I have notified the hotel about this and they may take action on it. Other than that, although pricey, I found the Scarlet clean, friendly, well located and comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent. Recommended!

Stayed here for the 3rd time and enjoyed it as much as ever. Breakfast was very good as usual, and I appreciated the change to menu options. Rooms are on the small side but personally the quality of the furnishings and bathroom make up for that. Excellent attentive staff as always. My only concern is the more than 50% increase in room rate since my first stay 18 months ago, and I may have to look elsewhere on my next visit because of this.

Standard rooms are small and windowless, but well furnished. Premium rooms are bigger and include a bathtub. Staff were very professional. Good breakfast.

The hotel was beautiful, with great attention to detail (chocolates, dried fruit on arrival, presentation of room, bathroom toiletries etc). The ambience was lovely - felt very indulgent and restful. Staff were all exceptionally helpful and the concierge really knew his stuff. Note - they only have a jacuzzi, rather than a pool, but still a lovely restful area for a book read and relax. Loved it. Will stay there again next time in Singapore.

This hotel was glamorous, perfect for couples wanting a romantic place to stay, we had an executive room with a balcony and it was beautiful. All the staff we friendly and polite. If you are planning to use the hotels dining facilities its worth noting that the staff are clumsy about the detail; on two occasions staff tried to deliver someone else’s room service to us and when we ate at the rooftop restaurant I received the wrong main and they forgot about our sides; however these incidents would not put me off staying there again.

Located only one street away from fascinating China town and its bevy of marvellous tastes and cuisines this hotel is a little gem. With subtle tunes of classic jazz the plush bar and waiting area make your days end or beginning. I can recommend this one.

A very nice little surprise is this Hotel. Something different from the larger plush places, and romantic in a way. I will return someday soon. room small, but did not mind at all. Could walk to most places I was interested.

Postage stamp sized room is why we regarded the room as "awful". Everything within the room was fine but you could not "swing an anorexic mouse" and therefore could not relax in the room. Other than that the place was great. Would not stay again

would have given highest mark at 2 above but for size of room and with only a skylight window -(did not expect this at "deluxe" level although recognising it as lowest tarriff.

We liked its eccentric layout; the result of its being a set of converted Chinatown shop houses. It is very handy for touring Chinatown. We would stay there again.

Hotel is in great Chinatown location. Cool furnishings and everything done very well--lovely cotton bed coverings, stone tile in bathroom, great decor. Rooms are small but very comfortable. Great bathroom (shower only) with fabulous water pressure. In-room hi-speed internet super convenient. Staff extremely friendly and obliging. My husband and I loved it. Outstanding hotel for couples or singles.

The Hotel was great in every aspect. The standard room was a touch small, but since we were out exploring Singapore it didn't really matter. The staff was wonderful and so helpful from the moment we arrived. I would definitely stay at the Scarlet on my next visit to Singapore.

Stayed here for 7 nights in total in a standard room. The room was on the small side, but very clean and with good quality equipment and furnishings. The free in-room internet access on my laptop was very much appreciated. A friendly hotel in a good location. I'll be staying there next time.

The room was tastefully decorated, a bit small, there were some stains on the bed cover. The bathroom facillity was good exept the shower drainage was clogged and water spilled on to the floor. Informed Front desk, but they did not followed up in those 2 days I stayed there. The rest was fine.

A really interesting hotel with excellent service. The rooms are small and most have no windows, but that's my only complaint. Close to Chinatown MRT and Smith St markets. The hotel has an intimate little spa and fitness centre + 2 restaurants. Breakfast includes a well stocked buffet and an A la Carte option. Right next to Chinatown for markets and the MRT. Also has a typical Hawker Centre for a quick, cheap meal just a stone's throw away.
Since I had a late night flight, they even let me check-out late and use the spa and showers that evening before going to the airport. Highly recommended.

The decor and ambience was wonderful, however my main complaint is that the bed in my deluxe room was extremely hard and lumpy! There's no excuse for that in a classy boutique hotel. I've stayed in low-end backpacker inns that had more comfortable beds than that! Cleanliness was excellent, minibar was well-stocked and though there was no bathtub, the shower had a good high-pressure spray. No cable TV other than Star Movies and HBO, which was slightly disappointing but not tragic. It was great to have a DVD player too, but having one that can play both DVDs and audio CDs would be even better.
The restaurant Desire has a great concept and gorgeous environment, but it's too bad the food didn't live up to the expectation. While it was tasty enough, it wasn't particularly adventurous or tantalizing, especially at those prices. The staff was friendly and polite, but the young man took perhaps slightly too casual an approach (although I appreciate his honesty!) and the young lady didn't quite seem to "have it all together". Choice of ambient music was also odd. Soft jazz or classical standards would have suited the surroundings much better than the rather strange, depressive and requiem-like modern opera that was chosen. When I'm having a romantic anniversary dinner the last thing I want to hear is a funeral dirge coming from the PA system!
I was disappointed with the fact that the rooftop restaurant/bar Breeze was not open that night. Given, it was a Sunday and I'm not all that f
