The servive was excellent throughout and all the staff was friendly and helpfull.The breakfast was very very good and I dont understand where the negative comments came from that I read before my arrival. We paid over $160/night for this hotel and were very disappointed. The mattress and couches were old (I mean really old) and saggy. The fabric on the couches are ripped! Bathroom was ok; not enough towels (I remember there was no hand towels either). They did not clean my room on the first day. This was the worst hotel we've stayed, very outdated. The beds and furniture desperately need to be replaced. Owner, please check your furniture! The breakfast was below average; the food neither looked appetizing nor tasted fresh. Hotel Royal is ranked only 1 star (2 at the most) on my list. What a disappointment after a nice modern Hotel G in Penang, Malaysia, which by the way cost much much less!Hotel Facilities

It`s really excellent stay for my wife and I, the service and hospitality of the hotel staff is excellent if we compare with similar hotel. Greeting and smile of the hotel staff and Alicia (room keeper) made our stay even meaningful. The aspects I would suggest to be aware of by visitors are internet access which will cost you 26$ SGD optionally, the limited TV channels if you are looking for entertainment like this and the small swimming pool could downgraded the hotel image. Main issue with this hotel is that for older people, way too far to walk to Orchard Road for shopping, but bus stop outside hotel entrance was very handy and cheap to get a taxi back. Staff was average - when we first checked in, they coded our key to a room that was already in use so we walked in to a room with other peoples things in it! Luckily no one was 'home' as it could have been quite embarrassing!
I paid for a deluxe but due to issues with the first room, (air-con was not working properly, bed order was not correct - after the debacle with the wrong room being given in the instance mentioned above) I had to change rooms on the second day and was downgraded (it was very obvious with missing amenities etc.)
Hotel was damp and leaked in certain areas including in the room and in the hallways so there was a musty smell. Drainage facilities in the bathroom were awful! You start having a shower and by the end of it, you are standing in a tub full of dirty water, as it does not drain properly.
Breakfast, which came with the rooms, was poor. We ate one morning out of the 4 only!Hotel Facilities

I stayed in Hotel Royal with my mother as it was a family holiday, I checked in much earlier. The hotel staff were kind enough to check in me early. The Hotel staff were very warm and friendly. Being a muslim, there were not so many choices at the breakfast, so it was not upto statisfaction when it comes food for us. The hotel location is OK, not very far from main shopping area Orchard road, it takes about 10mins by Taxi, at times we needed to wait for taxi little longer. The hotel room was good, no issues on that nor on staff. It is OK to stay as long as you dont have any better choice, especially for muslims.

Do make sure that you turn on the "make my room" light. The hotel is very busy (very full). The room cleaning ladies have to work very hard and may miss cleaning up your room. It could be that they may not have enough cleaning lady to safe cost. The Bath Tub is nice, many hotels in Singapore have shower only. Quite large rooms but bathroom rather rundown. Apart from reception staff, most staff don't speak much English at all. For a three .star hotel, its reasonably priced and the rooms are quite spacious. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel though the MRT is a 10 minutes walk away. I didn't used any of them because I have my own private transport throughout the stay. Breakfast menu is ok though could still be improved. There is no rear entry from the carpark to the hotel lobby so I need to walk right up to the side door of the lobby eventhough my car is parked at the rear of the hotel. The car exit ticket is valid for a single exit and must get another exit ticket from the reception counter each time I want to exit from the carpark. I propose that the exit ticket should be given for the period of the stay to lessen inconvenience of having to Q-up at the reception counter in order to obtain a carparking exit ticket. I requested for an iron and ironing board to be delivered to my room and was attended to very quickly. Good stay.Hotel Facilities

when i went restaurant for breakfast, no one said "Good morning"m even restaurant manager..it was bit shocked that they dont train well as customer service, basic greeting, even "thank you!" so i was disapointed quite a lot.
clean room, bath tub was ok...quite comfortable to stay this room. dont much use facility. no greeting from guest when i was dining at the restaurant. not many people can speak english so i was not happy about communication.
very close to MRT station and shopping center, bus stop is in front of hotel.
restaurant staff did not greet the guest much, even clearing tables, did not say anything and took plate, still food was there...need to have more training.
