Certainly the most outstanding hotel my wife & I have stayed in, ever! The standard of accomodation and cleanliness was excellent. The most notable feature however was the staff's attentiveness. They were always more than ready to assist with anything, and always carried out their tasks with an eagerness to please, and a ready smile. The breakfast experience needs to be mentioned as well... we were greeted at the restuarant reception every morning with enthusiasm, and escorted to the table of our choice. High quality and personalized service throughout - we upgraded to the Oriental Club level and have no complaints at all although we did not have occasion to use the hotel restaurants as Singapore offers such a wide range of alternative dining options.

This hotel is the best we've ever stayed in, anywhere in the world. The staff treated us with the utmost courtesy, and remembered us every time we returned from a day out, wishing us a "welcome back" as we stepped through the opened door. The hotel is very serene, just what a person needs after a 20+ hour flight, and we were never disturbed, even if we forgot to put on the privacy light. Having said that though, the hotel must be very well run, as our room was always cleaned, twice a day, without our even knowing it. The breakfast buffet is out of this world, literally, with every kind of food imaginable. We went into Melt, the restaurant, and Morton's, the Steakhouse, during our visit, and the food, and service, was absolutely unbelievable...terrific!!!!! If a person can find anything to complain about in this hotel then they must be either crazy, or cranky!!!!!! We will never stay anywhere other than the Mandarin Orient hotel during our visits to Singapore again. Thanks to everyone for making our trip so pleasant.

The service and help offered by the reception staff was well above the average for even a 5* hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Restaurants were excellent with a wide selection of food well presented. Afternoon tea is really good value.

Loved this hotel. We arrived early in the morning so had to wait an hour or so for a non smoking room, but no problem as we ate and went for a swim. Our room was upgraded so had a fantastic view of the city, amenties excellent and v comfortable. Best of all though is the service, everyone throughout the hotel is just so helpful and friendly and they got all the little details right, for example at the first breakfast we asked for some additional milk with our cappucino and the next day they supplied this without any prompting. The breakfast buffet was the best i have ever seen and have stayed at a lot of different hotels in different countries. Standards in Singapore are generally high but this was absolutely the best, would stay again without hesitation,

Our second vist to Singapore the Madarin is a excellent hotel in a good location for transport and shopping. Staff was very freindly and always willing to help, you certainly get personal service. The choice at breakfast was amazing and good quality food. When eating out we would recommend Dirty Nellys near the hotel good value for the price and good service also take a taxi to Clarke Quay good choice of eating places and good value. Singapore is a great place to visit very clean and easy to get arownd, when travelling in the far east you should never miss the chance of visiting Singapore and give Madarin a visit.

Excellent hotel, the staff are very friendly and helpful: I celebrated my Birthday in Singapore and the hotel left a beautiful present of oriental notelets and a birthday card in my room and i did not even mention it was my birthday. Hotel is close to Raffles/Raffles Tower shopping complex (fab) and is just a short walk from the Singapore Eye which is even taller than the London Eye;the circuit takes approx 30 mins and you get wine and canopies all for $30 (sing dollar 2-67 to the £)
In September the F1 circuit will be finished and it passes close to the hotel. you can see it from some of the rooms,,,great for F1 fans,
The hotel was also lovely and quiet (a must for me) the room service was excellent and the Chef's Nasi Goreng was the best I have ever tasted in SE Asia,
Buffet breakfast is huge- fab again
The beautiful spar is a must..i had the light legs treatment $80 Sing and i was walking on Air
I have only one small point...the pool is v large..but boringly oblong..and no waterfall -i love romantic pools...so perhaps giving the pool a little free form lolok with lots of lovely little waterfalls would just be the cherry on the cake...but I still give the top score 10 out of 10;
i have stayed in the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong also -the two are v different styles
HK is very traditional (loved the chinese tea set in all the rooms) and Singapore MO is much more Modern boutique -they are both beautiful in their own ways... the water filled reception lift area is well...what can I say again.....just fab
So what are you wating for...you will have a great timei.

I have been to Singapore many times before and stayed at other Hotels but In my opinion the Mandarin Oriental is by far the BEST I've stayed in. As previous reviews have said All the staff are really helpful and you are treated as someone special. The food was excellent and the breakfast choice has to be seen to be believe. I had a harbour view room and my only very small complaint was the traffic road noise early in the morning, but I am a light sleeper so next time I will ask for a room higher up .
In conclusion I can only endorse what has been said about this hotel and I look forward to my return visit

They were always more than ready to assist with anything, and always carried out their tasks with an eagerness to please, and a ready smile. The breakfast experience needs to be mentioned as well... we were greeted at the restuarant reception every morning with enthusiasm, and escorted to the table of our choice. The breakfast fare was in one word "wow"! Every type of food you could want, and if apparently not on display, easily ordered from the constantly attentive staff, and whisked to your table in no time. Empty dishes of completed courses taken away immidiately, and coffee or tea constanly refilled.Just a wonderfull start for the day.
The business centre was very helpfull with internet access etc, and the housekeeping was excellent with three service calls a day to ensure your every need was met.
The pool area was lovely, with a large pool and gardened surround. We were again met on arrival, escorted to our selected area, supplied with two fluffy towels each, set out on loungers, and suppliied with a bottle of ice-cold water right-away. Magazines & papers on supply, as well as complimentary little samles of sorbet or ice-cream.
We spent 14 days at the hotel, and throughout felt appreciated as valued quests, and during all the time, cosseted and spoilt. The night-duty manager

After a very long flight, we arrived at 7am at the hotel and asked if it was possible to have the room. We were told that we would have to pay half the room daily rate, but that it would be ready in a couple of hours. We went to the pool area to wait, but unfortunately there was a lot of noise from a building site across the road. When the room was ready we were so glad to be able to get a rest, but what we weren't told was that there was refurbishment going on in the hotel, so had to put up with a constant noise, so no rest! The hotel itself is very good, clean and modern but the interior design leads to noise in the rooms from the bar on the 4th floor. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast is one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had - so much choice, well presented and tasty.
As we had to catch an early flight when leaving, and had breakfast included in our package, we asked if we could eat early. This was not possible, but it was suggested that a takeaway breakfast delivered to the room would be available. In comparrison to the breakfast we had enjoyed this takeaway was very poor. Also there was a charge of approx. 31GBP. Needless to say we refused to pay that!!
It is also worth noting that when checking in make sure that you have got exactly what you had booked. We were told that we had room only when we had a booking for room and breakfast. Make sure you take confirmation of your booking!

I reserved and paid for 2 Seaview rooms but was given 2 "City" view rooms, that had a horrible view, definitely not the skyline of Singapore! When I made Reception aware, it was too much trouble to move so was given complimentary dinner. While this was excellent, the stay was very disappointing as it was the view that I booked for. Also there was confusion about the complimentary meal. I had very high expectations as this was booked for a special occasion and I left appreciating how good the hotel and staff are but disappointed with the experience.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at the Oriental. Our every need was catered to and, in many instances, anticipated before we actually requested anything. The commitment of the staff at Mandarin Oriental (including doorman, concierge, reception, reservations, restaurant, room service, room cleaners, was absolutley outstanding). It was the type of commitment to customer service you get when it is genuine, ingrained, natural, not manufactured. Both my wife and I became ill very shortly after arriving at the hotel and the staff arranged for a doctor to attend, changed flight reservations twice and were constantly asking about our welfare and need for further assistance. This was especially so on the Executive Club floor but other staff were equally attentive and helpful. I would never dream of staying anywhere else in Singapore.

An excellent hotel in a great area of Singapore. While generally all staff were friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, polite and professional, we could have done without running the gammut of 6 or more concierge/door staff from when we exited the spectacular lifts, to finally reaching the front footpath. No wonder the prices are a bit expensive if they have to pay all these staff members to do the same thing.

We stayed 2 days at the Oriental. It was more opulant than the Amara we have stayed at previously but I just felt the Oriental to be stark and uninviting and a kind of stand-offish professional otherwise it was fine. I found the breakfast area complicated with multiple counters in various sections of the eating area. I also like a breakfast area to be bright and sunny - the area we got put was dark with no outlook and it utilised mood lighting. To get my breakfast I had to walk all over the place to get all the bits and pieces. The problem was I had a bad leg and it was a lot of unnecessary walking and by the time I had collected it all the first pickups were already getting cold. To be fair, my wife did not see this as a problem so maybe I was just a bit too critical (she did not have the bad leg). Food was great, room terrific and the late checkout was particually useful. A large shopping centre adjacent and good eating in the surrounding area. Did not try the hotel food except for breakfast. The acid test is Would I stay again? - probably not. Nothing wrong with the hotel it was in fact good but I am not raving about it so we would probably seek to broaden our experience by trying another next time.

We can't find any faults with this hotel. This is our second trip back to the hotel in the last 6 months. Everything and I mean Everything about this hotel is top notch - from the room to food to service. This hotel is one of the best in Singapore in our opinion. We stayed at the Ritz before moving to the Oriental. The Ritz just doesn't match the overall sophistication of the Oriental despite being a 6 star and costing 1.5x more. The service & attention at the Oriental pool, new refurb gym & restaurants are simply outstanding. Definitely reccommended!!

The hotel is extremely peaceful and at times you feel like you are the only guests. The rooms are being renovated so would advise checking to make sure you get one of the renovated rooms. The older rooms are still very good but a little bit "tired". The service is very good and the breakfast has been voted the best in Singapore. We used the pool and the spa which were both excellent. If you want peace and tranquility this is the hotel for you.

I arrived from India early morning and reached the hotel at 9.00 a.m. I was told that my room was not ready but could use the shower room on the 5th floor to change. I was told that the room would be available after 12. When I went to the recption at 12.15 , the room was not ready and I had to come back at 1.30 p.m. I was upgraded to a room on the 18th floor which was a club room.
In general, I was very much satisfied with the hotel. The room was excelllent, breakfast was outstanding . The Chinese reastaurant was first class. The staff working in the Chinese restaurant were very friendly. Bell boys and porters were very efficient and courteous.
Even though my stay was brief , I was very much satisfied with the service I got and I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Singapore.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Oriental Singapore. I booked a City View room but was upgraded to a Seaview room with late checkout. The hotel was recently renovated and it has a very upmarket feel to it. I particularly liked the atrium in the middle of the hotel that goes right from ground floor to the roof. The daily buffet breakfast was wonderful. There was a very wide selection of food and the quality was high. My only complaints are: 1) the restaurant staff were rather slow in clearing out the plates and refilling the cups, 2) the housekeeper did not replace the bath gel until I had run out, 3) the TV in the room is not flat screen. Other than these, everything else at the hotel was very good although not as good as the Oriental Bangkok. This was my second stay at The Oriental Singapore and I consider it good value for the money. I give it 5 stars and would definitely stay there again and at other Mandarin Oriental hotels.

Fantastic hotel!!! Location great if you have buisness in the Marina area. Everything else is just a cheap taxi ride away. This was my 4th time to Singapore, however my 1st time I stayed at tne Oriental. Compared to which hotels I have stayed in before, Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton, The Oriental is just as good. The rooms are of good size, bathroom wonderful. The restaurants serve high quality food. The breakfast was extensive, just everything you could possible want, and very good. The hotel could not provide a room with two twin size beds as we reguested weeks prior to arrival, therefore we got upgraded to harbour view room. Though I am not convinced the harbour view room is worth the extra charge if you have to pay for it. All is great and beautyful in this hotel. The decor is very modern, quite different from most luxury hotels, it is obvious that business travellers favor it. Having this in mind, I might expect the internet service to be included in the roomcharge. The internet charges are ridicoulosly high!! The breakfast area and the food is excellent, but 72 Singapore Dollar for a breakfast - I find it too steep! The room is very nice, confortable, great to have a full size desk and room to walk around it. The decor is great! Overall in Singapore standards it is a great hotel.

We spent 4 nights between Oct 1 and Oct 5 2006 at the Oriental in Singapore. The Hotel is centrally located in the Marina area with 4 Shopping Malls the MRT station and Esplanade area all within walking distance. The staff at the Oriental were friendly, helpful and courteous at all times durning our stay. We stayed in a deluxe room which was a reasonable size with excellent facilities, although it did not have a view of the City or Esaplanade area. Breakfast was included in the price and was excellent with a wide varaity of foodstuffs and beverages available. Overall we were very pleased with our stay in the Oriental Singapore and felt it represented good value for money. The location was very good in terms of accessability to most of the areas tourists to Singapore would like to visit and we would have no hesitation in staying at the Oriental Singapore in any future visits we may make there.

I spent 2 nights with my family with 2 young children at the Oriental. The service here is truly 5 stars. We were upgraded to JR. Suite upon arrival, and extra bed was set up for our child for free without us requesting it. The buffet breakfast which was best I've had, was included through Hoteltravel.com. Our departing flight was at 6AM, which meant we had to checkout of the hotel at 3am. We had ordered food packed to take to the airport, since we would miss our great breakfast. At promply 2:45AM they showed up with fresh coffee and well packaged food for us to take. That's service! The pool was a little boring but my kids enjoyed cooling off at the pool with the city view.

Good location with direct access to a shopping mall but a 20 minute walk to the nearest MRT. Taxis are so cheap, so don't let that put you off.
Paying the extra for the Club Level Lounge is well worth the extra. Restaurants in the hotel are very expensive but one of the best Hawker Centres on the Island is just across the road on the Esplanade, which is open until 3am in the morning. Some building work continues on the harbour front and appears to be longterm. No problem in the higher level rooms but at times an irritation while at the swimming pool on the 4th floor.

We stopped on the Club Floor and everything was first class. We have stopped here before and that experience was just as good. Not only is this a beautifull hotel, but the staff make it a wonderfull experience. My wife even had three massages, and she said the health suite was excellent. I used the pool which was also very good. We travel extensively long haul for months at a time, and this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in.

We did have a problem with the hotel. We booked and paid for 2 nights, but ran into a problem with our flight connection, I tried to contact the phone number in Bangkok for any changes in our plans and could not get a response even with operator assistance. When we arrived at the hotel they declined to make any accommodation at all and so we paid for 2 nights and only stayed for 1 night. We think on the basis of public relations, the hotel should have been more flexible and it did not leave us with a good feeling about the policy of the Oriental Hotel. We were not irresponsible, we had the reservation for a year. It was circumstances beyond our control that did not allow us to arrive on schedule and we did try to call to let them know we would be delayed. It was unfortunate that this happened because the hotel is very nice, Singapore is delightful, and the experience put somewhat of a damper on our short stay in Singapore.

No doubt, this hotel lives up to its reputation along with other group hotels in other cities.
Clean, spacious lobby, well-trained/high-grade employees. In-room facilities was excellent,
particularly its digital/stereo TV and DVD. Pool area was relaxing although I would not mind seeing more variety of meal choices that can be ordered at the pool side.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again on my next visit.

I was totally impressed overall. The staff were excellent, I got a great deal via the internet, and I will certainly stay again. I will/have already recommended to my friends to stay there.
I want to take my children to expereince the magnificence of the club floor.
Room service was excellent. I am an airline pilot and have stayed in many hotels around the world, on duty and holiday, and without a doubt this was one of the best.
Congratulations to the staff and management of The Oriental Singapore on completing a fabulous refurbishment.
