Should have more variety for breakfast .. rather boring after the 2nd day. The hotel is under renovation .. this information should have been informed to guests ... not getting a surprise once getting there - causing facilities not so convenient as before.

Excellent location and very efficient and friendly staff. We were not able to rate the F&B outlets better as they were undergoing an extensive renovation and we had to cope with temporary arrangements for this. We would go back to the Meritus Mandarin again. Its one of those 5 star properties that have held their ranking with grace over the years.

Housekeeping is extremly poor. On checkin there was a tray of dirty dishes outside my room. Two calls to housekeeping and a personal request to the from desk did not succeed. It was still there the next morning.
The room service breakfast menu was still on the door - 15 minutes after the breakfast was due to be delivered. When this was discussed with the roomservice staff I was told I did not put a menu out

The South Tower room we stayed in was big in size and good value for money .It was on a higher floor and had a view of the harbour
In amenities the TV was small in size. I prefer it to the the Grand Tower room which had better decor , a bigger Tv but the room was smaller in size.The view was nothing great.
The staff is very helpful and excellent specially the Concierge.

Room size is small as per the standard of a 5 star hotel. Location is excellent, Staff is quite friendly and ready to serve the guests. Wash-basin in our room was choked but it was made functional promptly. Overall it was good experience to be there. Rates are little more for the facility and services provided, but no regrets. I enjoyed my stay there.

I was greeted upon arrival by a very friendly staff. I did appreciate the bell captain who introduced himself in a very warm way. We were given a complimentary drink (valid until the date of departure) which we did not use but nevertheless appreciated. The rooms were very spacious (south tower); the only thing I didn't like was the lights which were only reachable from one size of the bed and the bedlights didn't allow me to read as they are hardly orientable but I guess that this was the older part of the hotel as there is some difference between the lobby and this part of the building. I did not go to the other wing but it seemed better. The service (maid) was excellent and we were a phone call away from our requests. The swimming pool is not very nice and rather small ( I must say that I was expecting an olympic size pool and like nice swimming pools). The location is the best for shopping and walking around. Idid not have a breakfast included but I did prefer that as we were located 200 meters from food alleys and enjoyed the diversity of the cuisines. I think that it was the right choice as I couldn't help myself noticing that clients were queuing at the entrance of the breakfast room (?) at around 9 am. I also appreciate the person in charge with the baggage desk: I had bought some items outside which were supposed to have been delivered earlier on: that man on duty called himself the shop and an hour later the problem was solved.

Stayed at the Mandarin after a break of a few years - as usual most things had not changed. TV channels range disappointing compared to others. Standard of live music in the Bar also not up to Mandarin standard.

A fantastic hotel. We stayed in the South Tower and had a deluxe room which was well worth the slightly extra money we paid. Fantastic views, amazingly comfortable beds and a beautiful marble bathroom with 2 sinks and a brilliant power shower. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel for its very central location and proximity to the main shopping outlets etc.

The location, room, staff, food were all excellent. The price was a little expensive compared to other hotels I've stayed in of equal quality. The latest checkout they would give me was 2:00pm and yet all brochures I had read aout this hotel said 3:00pm checkout guaranteed. This was not the case. However I would stay at this hotel again, mainly for it's location, but only if I were able to get the discounted rate.

We stayed for 8 nights early Dec 06 in the deluxe room south tower without the breakfast. The location is fantastic, so close to Somerset MRT, Ochard MRT and all the major shopping centres. The location is great as everything you need is within walking distance and the MRT and taxis take you anywhere rather cheaply. The staff were great, especially the cleaner who made our room everyday even when we said we didn't need it when asked on one occasion. Loved the paper being delivered to our door every morning. There was an issue with a bathroom door being locked on the inside but they quickly fixed it when asked, they even replaced a door pass we had lost free of charge. The staff everywhere are so helpful and in greeting you. We would definately recommend the meritus mandarin on orchard again. For the price we paid via Hoteltravel.com online help, and with the facilities. We have stayed at other hotels more expensive than the meritus but meritus wins hands down.

I normally book the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore when on a business trip but this time it was fully booked. I was suggested The Meritius by HTN but it does not have the same standards and it costed me more than the Pan Pacific.
