The hotel was really good value compared to the price of other 4 star hotels. The staff were great and very helpful. A minor disappointment - we had to ask for more toilet paper even after they'd already cleaned the room. Food was expensive in The Bar. The location was great and we recommend this hotel to everyone. The hotel is located in the civic district with its museums and charming colonial buildings. However, Orchard Road is only 2 stops away via the MRT whose nearest station (City Hall) is less than five minutes' walk from the hotel. Numerous restaurants catering to different tastes are located in the immediate vicinity so one is not hostage to the hotel's F/B outlets.
I had not expected such a spacious lobby (with high ceilings) for a hotel in this area. My room, though compact, was cozy and furnished with all expected amenities (including broadband connection). However, it was located next to an office building so the view ... The gym facilities are adequate, but one should not expect to swim laps in the small pool (not much larger than the plunge pools in Balinese villas).
My flight schedule (arrival after midnight; checkout at 4:00 a.m.) posed no problem at all for both the front desk and the concierge (who had a taxi waiting for me at the appointed hour). Although I am a regular visitor to Singapore, this is the first time I have opted to stay in this part of the city and I certainly would not mind staying here again. It is the second time that I stay in this hotel. The first time I stayed alone as I was in a business trip, and this time I came with my family.
It's location and value for money are quite remarkable. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the bedrooms are quite good and the breakfast has also a big variety of food.
The swimming pool is king of small but also there is not so many people there so I don't see a problem with it.
When I return to Singapore, I intend to stay there again. |
