The hotel is in an ideal situation for walking to Boat/Clark Quay, Raffles hotel and the Eastern end of Orchard Road. It is right outside the tube station. The bar had live music. Breakfast was an excellent buffet.

Disappointing. Certainly not up to 5 star standard. Could only be offered a smoking room. A light in one of the wardrobes flickered on and off and we had to use towels to make sure the doors closed to stop this during the night. We reported this the following morning but nothing was done with the doors to the wardrobe.

The hotel was really good value compared to the price of other 4 star hotels. The staff were great and very helpful. A minor disappointment - we had to ask for more toilet paper even after they'd already cleaned the room. Food was expensive in The Bar. The location was great and we recommend this hotel to everyone. We would stay there again without hesitation.

The hotel is located in the civic district with its museums and charming colonial buildings. However, Orchard Road is only 2 stops away via the MRT whose nearest station (City Hall) is less than five minutes' walk from the hotel. Numerous restaurants catering to different tastes are located in the immediate vicinity so one is not hostage to the hotel's F/B outlets.
I had not expected such a spacious lobby (with high ceilings) for a hotel in this area. My room, though compact, was cozy and furnished with all expected amenities (including broadband connection). However, it was located next to an office building so the view ... The gym facilities are adequate, but one should not expect to swim laps in the small pool (not much larger than the plunge pools in Balinese villas).
My flight schedule (arrival after midnight; checkout at 4:00 a.m.) posed no problem at all for both the front desk and the concierge (who had a taxi waiting for me at the appointed hour). Although I am a regular visitor to Singapore, this is the first time I have opted to stay in this part of the city and I certainly would not mind staying here again.

It is the second time that I stay in this hotel. The first time I stayed alone as I was in a business trip, and this time I came with my family.
It's location and value for money are quite remarkable. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the bedrooms are quite good and the breakfast has also a big variety of food.
The swimming pool is king of small but also there is not so many people there so I don't see a problem with it.
When I return to Singapore, I intend to stay there again.

I chose Grand Plaza because of its location and I wasn't disappointed. Almost everything was within walking distance and if it was not, taxis were are everywhere plus it was close to the MRT station. It took a long time though for my bags to be brought up and when I finally got to the room, I was disappointed at first that the room and the bathroom were not that big but I got over that soon. I requested for a kingsize bed beforehand but they couldn't give me one on the day that I arrived so I settled for 2 twin size beds. When I entered the room there was a funny smell and I couldn't pinpoint what it was until I entered the bathroom and found out the source of the funny smell was the plastic shower curtain that needed to be washed. There was no rubbermat on the bathtub and when I turned on the shower in the bath, there was some dirt so I just let the water flow until the dirt went down the drain. I had to call housekeeping to fix the problem which should have been done before I arrived. I loved the softness of their pillows and blankets but I found the bed a bit hard so I just took the blanket from the other bed and used it as a cushion for my back. Once those problems had been solved, I had an absolutely pleasant stay at this hotel. The staff, from the housekeeping, to concierge, to front desk, to restaurant people, were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. I loved the variety of their breakfast buffet. I told my friends in Singapore that I was to stay at the Grand Plaza Park Hotel and they all commented that it was a very nice hotel in an excellent location. Thanks to HotelTravel.com I got a fantastic rate that also included a daily breakfast buffet. The hotel facilities were very clean, modern, and well maintained and all of the staff were very helpful. The nearest MRT station is only a 3-4 minute walk away...They have a wonderful jacuzzi is that is very relaxing after a long day out touring. Yes, I would consider this hotel again when visiting Singapore and will probably book it through this site again, too!

The annoying thing about this hotel was that the rooms were not cleaned in the morning everyday. On one occasion we returned at 4.30pm and had to request the room to be tidied, other times we put the sign out and it was cleaned at random times. The safe in the room had a problem. When reception was told for the second time someone came up, but the problem was still not resolved. I rang a couple of times again and got no response so eventually gave up and could not use it. The keycards did not consistently work in the elevators either. The location was great and the room was okay, although the bathrooms were very small with no extractor fans, so subsequently the mirror could not be used if you had just had a shower. The room/bathroom were clean. When we arrived at 2.30pm there was no room ready. I had requested a lower floor non- smoking room on my booking, but when we arrived we were offerd a room on the 8th floor down a maze of corridors. I asked to be changed and we were given a room on the 5th floor, which was better. The buffet breakfast was average. The location is great which makes up for the other flaws.

Dropping point and pickup point for friends picking us up - this could be improved (I know traffice space is limited) - I had to stand at road edge to get picked up.
Very pleased & surprised to encounter a Thai as receptionist - very polite & friendly - vry helpful when friends of hotel guests call.

I thought the service from the moment I entered the Main entrance was very friendly. The location of the hotel was very convenient to the city and not to far away from the airport. The one negative side was the hotel could use a complimentaty toothbrush as well as bottled water for their guests. I thought it was supposed to be a 4 star hotel. It is located in a back alley street of a good central location. No view from windows. A bit small. I would rate it 3.5 stars. Good for 1-2 day stays, not more.
