Goodwood Park Hotel lived up to our expectations - and more! We found all staff to be courteous and helpful. The buffet brealfast was superb as was the buffet dinner, which was extremely good value for money.

We have previously stayed twice at the Shangri-la Singapore which is also a 5 star hotel ,so comparing the 2 hotels from a star rating I thought the classic Goodwood Hotel lacked the ambience expected of the 5 star rating and history of the hotel . I had to ask for the table cloth at our table out side to be changed as it had been left stained from previous dinning. The breakfast menu was very limited and the entrance foyer was lacking in appearence. However we had a lovely suite which I had secured for a very good price ,this was probably due to the installation of cabling in the corridor outside . We will probably continue to use the Shangri-la for future bookings as the overall quality matches the 5 star rating consistantly.

We spent two nights at Goodwood prior to cruising back to the UK. The experience was first class and we would return in the future. The breakfasts were delicious and the room large and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for the hotel staff - almost as if they anticipated our needs.We enjoyed the intimacy of this hotel - so different to other high rise hotels in Singapore which are no doubt excellent in their own right.

The location is perfect, just around the corner from busy Orchard Rd. Metro is very close. The hotel has a lovely ambiance: gorgeous colonial exterior set in large grounds. One pool is quite tropical and intimate, the other is quite large and airy.
Staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. Their afternoon High Tea rivals that of the famous Raffles Hotel. Balcony rooms are large and comfortable.

It is difficult to fault the Goodwood Park Hotel. During our stay, staff at all levels were extremely helpful and very polite, to the extent that when my wife made a request for a particular fruit at breakfast on one day, not only was it served to her then but every morning of our stay thereafter. We have now stayed at the Goodwood on three occasions in the past nine months. We will be staying there again.

Junior suite. Not big enough for a family of 4. The Pull down bed provided as standard is not suitable for two 10 year old children to sleep on. Additional bed provided within minutes of request, but room then very cramped. Overall excellent. Will stay here again.

I much enjoyed my stay. Nice to be in an area with grass, and listen to birds when waking up. I can only repeat something I read. "The most difficult job is not building a new hotel but restoring an old one. The Goodwood Park Hotel stands testimony to this belief. Here, enterprisem infinite good taste and excellent Management has transformed this ancient hotel - circa 1900 - into a hotel of dazzling excellence".
A stay there, however brief, is well worth the experience.

I arrived very early in the morning the day before my actual reservation. They offered me an efficiency apartment for that night at the room rate I was paying for my other reservation. I accepted and then after staying in the apartment didn't want to leave, so they let me stay there. It turned out beautifully because it had a huge balcony overlooking the garden which I utiilized for drinking coffee in the morning watching the rain and wine in the afternoon. I would love to stay there again. The food service was exceptional. I order room service one evening and asked specificilly for no butter but the meal came with butter already melted on it. The waiter took the food away and came back with my original order, no butter, with no fus at all. The hotel itself is under renovation so the public areas are a bit difficult to get to but other than that, it was great.

While the hotel overall very nice, to me it is over-priced. The rooms are clean and spacious (including a decent balconey) but are nothing special - in fact they seemed quite boring. Additional perks, which i now find essential (wireless ADSL, business center), are very expensive (2 hours in the business center (or 1 day of wireless ADSL) nearly cost 1 month of ADSL charges back home) but yet going out to find an Internet cafe to check email is inconvienent as we couldn't find any Internet cafes nearby. Location near Orchard Road is ok and the MRT is a five to ten minute walk away. Breakfast was very good (wide variety). Pools looked nice (but never had the opportunity to use them). Although temporary, there was construction on the second floor and crews began working at 8 or 9 in the morning. There was lots of banging and loud noises - thankfully they stopped before we returned in the evening. Perhaps Singapore hotels are all relatively expensive but i didn't feel this was worth it.

To think of the cost I paid for staying in this hotel, I'd rather choose another hotel next time. The building was very old, the room was shabby,and the service was poor. The breakfast was just fair. When I entered the room, I found the bag of potato chips torn and half eaten by the previous customer(?). This is the worst of my hotel experience.

Staff were of a pleasant disposition, friendly, couteous and professional. Would suggest that they redesign their shower facilities in the room as I personally found it dangerous. It would be better to have a centrally located shower head, rather than one affixed to the right hand side wall. The hotel's room service menu could be expanded to enlarge the choice of items. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest, I would give them 8.

Unfortunately when we were there major renovations were being done which made things very noisy and also put the pool area out of use, but this was just unfortunate timing.
