Have stayed at this hotel before, it is average, perhaps overpriced for the standard type of hotel that it is. The last time we stayed there was probably the most unpleasant as we were put into a room that had been previously occupied by a smoker, it was pretty bad, luckily we only had the one night stay there as we were going on a cruise the next morning otherwise I would have asked for another room. Personally all hotels should be non-smoking. The only plus why we stay there is it is in an excellent location - close to Bugis markets, department stores and the MRT. We stayed at another hotel after the cruise which was much nicer, cheaper and the location was just as good..

Hotel was convenient, clean and staff were obliging. The room had been slightly renovated the only downer was the lighting. In the bedroom there was one lamp only between the two beds and a small lamp on the bench in front of the mirror. The room was very dark without a centre light and very bad if you wanted to read anything at night. The airconditioning was far too cold and could not be turned down, we just turned it off completely.

To be honest, i had stayed in 3* hotels which were far better than this one. The breakfast was poor and the service was not good at breakfast as well. I think i can expect at least to be served with tea and coffee in this class of hotel rather than self service. Food items that were meant to be hot and even stored in such containers were cold and made the food not enjoyable. however, room service is very quick, but menu is very limited.staff very helpful at reception.

Nice hotel in great location. Pool area beautiful, rooms clean and good size. Bathroom smallish but adequate. This hotel is popular among the Indians. We travel to India twice a year and love the India people but some who stayed at this hotel were very rude and pushy and this was the case each morning at breakfast. Food didn't look very appealing and there was a small vairety that became boring by the end of the 4th day. The resttaurant looked not just quite clean. The tables had either plastic table cloths or nothing at all. We would find left over food on the chairs and the floor. Was very disappointing in view of the fact that the rest of the hotel was very good.

The hotel is in a very interesting area, near Kampopng Glam, within walking distance to many shopping centres, and close to the Bugis MRT station. We noticed on this stay that the hotel had been refurbished, with a very good new bathroom. Housekeeping was very quick and efficient. The breakfast buffet is also improved, with 2 egg chefs and a good variety of dishes. We will stay here again happily.

I like the hotel and would reccomend that others stay there if they are looking for great value. The hotel is old and needs some minor upkeep, but the cost value is exceptional. The staff while friendly were not highly motivated. Usually it took them a long time to answer the phone, but once they did it was easy to communicate. Location and ease of transportation were great.

the hotel is good, the location is great. very clean area, very good for families. Bugis MRT is not that far around 200 meters (7 min. walk) . the staff are friendly except the male chainese staff, speciliy at the recepetion. they are so rude. if you would like to ask for a service ask; I prefare to ask the female staff. there is no business center, they have only internet kiosk. there is wireless internet in each room. and they sell the 30 min by 5 $ . dont do what i did ? dont buy internet cards from the hotel. just search for all wireless networks. and you will find a wireless network for SingTel , its free. and you need only to register with them in their website. in over all, the hotel is good, and I like its location.

The hotel was good value for money. It is well sited close to Bugis MRT and Little India. The staff were very helpful and sorted out an early check in for me when I arrived at 8am and also a late check out.
The hotel isnt as flashy as some of the more upmarket hotels but I would recommend this as a good, value for money place to stay

This hotel was in a terrific location, the staff were lovely, and it seemed well used by locals. This hotel was ideally placed for us, being on the edge of Little India and Arab Street and handy for Bugis Street MRT and shopping. It was also within walking distance 10-15 mins of the Suntec Conference Centre.
The hotel room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast buffet catered for all tastes. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Swimming pool was a bonus. Overall this hotel was good value for money for families and business visitors alike. Comfortable beds, airconditioning and ensuite bathroom with full bath and shower. A reaonably sized roof top pool although no changing facilities available (had to use toilets)On the edge of Little India and handy for Bugis MRT. Within walking distance of a variety of shopping and cultural facilities including the Suntec Centre and Sim Lim computer shopping. Handy for MRT, frequent taxis at hotel door, within walking distance of most places. A reasonably eclectic selection of breakfast items to start off the day. Overlooked a wholesale fruit and vegetable market and school so quiet in the evenings.
Plenty of choice for organised day trips. We booked the Zoo and Night Safari via the hotel.

the first room we were given was extremely average. nothing to really get excited about. we asked to change room after a sleepless night of a thudding aircon and noisy neighbour with music. the next room we got was so much better eventhough basic. there was a nice view and a nice king size bed. the location of the hotel was nice as it was near Bugis mrt station and bugis shopping centre. it is a really nice area. rooms are nice and i will probably stay there again.

There was no hotel information in the room and essentials were barely adequate. At breakfast the vast majority of other guests were from central asia and were rude, inconsiderate and lacking in basic knowledge of hygiene - one fellow took some of our cutlery while we were at our table instead of walking down the room and getting it from the counter. Another was spotting fingering all the hash browns! During breakfast one day, a brawl errupted in the foyer among a tour group. I would'nt stay in this place again if they paid me!

We stayed there 2 nights. The hotel is old and so are the rooms. It was clean and quiet and the bed linen were broken in some places. Reception was OK. The general attitude of the staff was sorry can't help you. If it took a little bit of effort on there part it certainly was not going to happen. Some of the staff was extremely helpful, but for the most part they did not make an effort. The toilets in two seperate rooms were not functioning well. The carpets were dirty and the room did not have enough electrical outlets. The views were nice and the location was central. Taxis were hard to get at night as there were a lot of people and no organization from the hotel.

The hotel is a short walk to Arab St and Bugis market, my favourite part of Singapore so that was excellent. Bugis MRT station is a short walk. Little India is also nearby. The room was clean and quiet, and bed comfortable. Unfortunately the only negative were the staff who were clearly not motivated and I didn't get a smile - if this is important to you, then you may want to choose somewhere else. However I was happy with my stay and would definitely stay here again!

I was staying in this Hotel on Oct 26-28, 2006. The location is very good. It's just less than 10 minutes walk from Bugis MRT and Bugis Street. Very easy to go everywhere from this hotel.
The room is standard. It's clean and tidy. However, the room amenities are poor, especially the they don't provide bath soap and shampoo in small bottles as usual, instead they provide a liquid soap hanging and attached in the wall, make it like cheap hotel (compare to the hotel appearance and price).
The food is very standard (a bit poor actually), not much choices and the female restaurant staffs sometimes are unfriendly. No smile at all. But the male staff in restaurant reception is the opposite. Very friendly and helpfull.

The rooms need a renovation! I was told they upgrade us to 2 deluxe rooms, but if this was deluxe I don't want to stay in superior or standard. Food offer is poor for Europeans , but may be ok for Indian taste - most customers ( around 90 % ) are from India / Pakistan. The area around the hotel is safe, and by taxi ( which is cheap ) you reach the most areas ( Orchid / Marina ) in 5-10 Minutes for less than 5 USD.

Alhough the room size was o.k. and the bed good and clean, the furniture was poor and the carpet, windows and the bathroom in a very bad and unclean condition. It was practically impossible to use the hairdryer unless you got down on your knees because the cable went through the drawer of the desk and as a consequence was too short. Breakfast was good.

I have stayed at this hotel at least twice in each year for the last five years and consider that it gives good value.The service is good and the hotel is close to all the amenities. Bugis is an excelent area to mix in with the Singaporians and the MRT is close by. I shall keep using the Golden Landmark.
