I never had a hotel room smelling urine as the room in Garden hotel. I slept the whole night with the windows open and the smell was still there the next morning.

The hotel was a good choice and good value for money. the room, the facilities and all hotel amenities were good. we were very happy with the hotel. the only problem we faced was travelling back to the hotel after sightseeing, especially if we came back late. we could not find taxis and it was quite far to walk from the nearest MRT(Newton).

I would give a GOOD rating for Garden Hotel. The location is ok and the total quality of service is also good. Perfect for budget concious travellers. One suggestion is.. hope that they provide cable channels...

Although the price was cheap, the hotel was old and the rooms average. The location was also not great, and you would need to factor in paying extra for taxis to get to areas other than Orchard road. The nearest train station was a 15 min walk. Overall i would not recommend this hotel.

The hotel is well located in a quiet area. The staff members were friendly and very helpful as was the fdriver of the shuttle bus. We enjoyed our stay and made use of several facilities.
The food was plentiful at breakfast while we very much enjoyed the one evening meal we had at the hotel. Parts of the hotel, including our bedroom, were "tired" but this was to be expected given that the Garden was opened about 20 years ago. The TV in our room was old, reception was poor, and local stations only could be received. No newspapers were delivered to the rooms. To sum up: The pluses outweighed the minuses..but only just.

Sizes of the room is medium- but the carpet and the furnitures a bit too old, and the blanket is very dirty looks like has not been washed over for years. The hotel breakfast was awful-the food was about less than 10 choices and it cost at SGD 15.00... i don't think it is up to my expectation. The food was lousy- not value for money. The hotel front desk was unfriendly. When i check in, the front desk was telling me that they do not have such booking, and i was being told that if online reservation it is advisable to book a week before arrival, otherwise they are unable to retrieve the booking. I was so upset, because i made the reservation about 2 days before check in which was on confirmed status, and the staff was unable to retrieve it. Finally, the supervisor allowed check in... Very very upset. 2 swimming pools- 1 is on the roof deck which is very small, the other one is on the first floor extremely dirty. Fitness room; only 3 workout machine and the room is too small and humid.

I stayed in this hotel 20 yrs ago and I believe nothing has been done towards it's upkeep since that time. It is very tired in it's condition and needs a lot of maintainence. However the shuttle service is good.
