good coffee, the view of waterfall outside the breakfast room is excellent for the beginning of a new day, the main decoration with marble is what I prefer.

Very good value. Great location. Nice breakfast - great coffee. Pleasant staff. I was disappointed to be charged an early check in tariff as well as room make up service etc. When we arrived at 7.30am, the helpful receptionist told us that the room was unoccupied and was ready for us. We arranged a late check out for our departure date with her. She then disappeared and came back and told us we would also be charged a rate for early check in, or we could come back at 10am if we preferred. We opted for the early check in option - after a 14 hour flight we did not fancy hanging around another two hours or so. We were surprised on check out to see that the list of charges for this early check in - room make up etc, especially as the room was clearly unoccupied prior to our arrival. This may be standard practice, but it doesnt give a good first impression.

The hotel seemed somewhat disorganised. Our room was not ready when we arrived so we had to go for a "two-hour walk", then the room we got was not cleaned (unmade beds and dirty towels) and when we got another room somebody had been smoking in there so the smell was awful. After that, at least we were upgraded but the room was still rather small. The rooms were very, very small. It was borderline for two people with luggage. Internet was espensive, with only two PCs and poor printing facilities. Gym very small and basic with a tiny outdoor pool. Since our room was not ready, we got a dirty room and then a smelly room before we finally got settled, so I would say they seemed at least a bit disorganised. The breakfast was not good so we wentout two days out of three although it was included and there was only one restaurant. We do not have children but may have picked the hotel just because it was not advertising "excellent child facilities" as we do try to avoid those hotels. Pretty close to Orchard Rd and that was the reason for booking it! Always kind of hard to get a cab in S'pore when you really need it so i think the hotel had a good arrangement.

A hotel in the classic style, staff generally helpful but lacked local knowledge (a high priority with tourists) The concierge and duty manager were aloof and unhelpful (doing you a favour if bothering to open door or indeed acknowledge guests in foyer) and the tour desk only caters for guests booking a tour (any other request, not interested, ask the concierge!) Restaurant, breakfast and room service were of a good standard and value

The renovation didn't intrude but the rooms seem in need of some updating! Set on a hill so you need to be fit if you're going to go walking! Otherwise good location and a quiet area.

The size of the room is a bit small with the room rate. Walking distance is slightly off the main orchard road. TV in the room is faulty, colour at times and black and white at times.

Good location, staff helpful, lovely pool, clean hotel, good choice at breakfast, Internet S$8 for 1 hour seemed pricey to me no half hour option. We had to move room as we were given twin beds instead of double - took a bit more effort than I would have expected but the hotel was full. Near big shopping complex. We'd stay there again.

Despite booking a twin room and receiving confirmation several months in advance there was no twin room available when we got there early evening after a 10 hour flight from New Zealand, preceeded by domestic flights. Instead we were given a double plus an extra single portable bed was then set up - which left hardly any floor space. Our pre payment and voucher included an extra 1/2 day for a 6pm checkout. Yet we were presented with an account for this additional charge. There was some reluctance by the front desk staff to accept what the voucher said and that we had already paid but finally they did. Another un called for hassle. We then asked for assurances that everything would be correct on out return stay 3 weeks later and were told yes. Yet on our return stay after a 12 hour flight from London we booked in about 6pm only to be told that our twin room was not ready - and were offered the same double plus extra portable bed arrangement as the first stay.

The room was good. The hotel gave me one of those larger odd-shaped rooms that somehow work very well. However, I waited more about TEN minutes outside the hotel lobby before someone helped me with my bags when I arrived at the hotel!! The Check-in was no smoother. The one who checked us in was constantly answering phone calls thereby delaying our process. They must remember that people come from long trips and wish to get into their rooms soonest!! While the hotel was a nice small one, ideal for business trips, they will have to improve these areas before I return.

The location of this Hotel is very comfortable, to approach the Shopping and center of the city. Staff friendliness very good, rooms OK, but they need soon a "face lift".

What I found disappointing was that I booked a room for myself and my two young children but I was given one room with only one bed. The staff were helpful and brought in a fold out bed but after flying for sometime time and being keen to to sleep the mistake in booking was annoying. It should be noted that the room had been booked for at least 3 months prior to my visit.
