Wrong timing.The hotel just started renovating the lobby lounge, and hallway. It may take few months to finish. Rather noisy, dark and unfortable in the lobby area.

I think, that for a hotel of this high class in Singapore Internet access could be free. 0.5 SGD per minute or 27 SGD per day is a bit strange - especially when free Wi-Fi can be available in relatively plain caffees.....

Despite the quiet period after the Chinese New Year Holiday, the hotel was not willing to provide a later checkout. This is bad customer service. Also at checkin, I requested two rooms on the same floor (not necessarily interleading rooms) and this proved to be a problem until the Duty Manager intervened. It seems that the front line staff are not well prepared in customer service.

This was my first visit and stay at Carlton Hotel Singapore. I initially booked for Le Meridien Hotel Singapore, as it was fully booked, I was offered Carlton Hotel by HotelTravel.com.
The things that I particularly like about Carlton Hotel Singapore are its Staff's politeness, helpfulness (especially the Concierge), and professionalism; the Breakfast (I really liked it and it offers lots of choices to choose from); the location of the hotel which is close to public transport (just a few minutes' walk to City HAll MRT Station) and shops; and the cleanliness of the room. I would definitely recommend anybody to stay at Carlton Hotel Singapore.

Very good first impressions which continued with helpfulness of the front desk + concierge. Rooms where a good size and clean but did find a pair of shorts tucked at the back of bedside cabinet - I had dropped a tissue and went to pick it up. Breakfasts were very good but bar prices - quite expensive. Very good location - all in all good value for money - would recommend!

Amazing location, near every thing! Short walk from boatquay, Orchard Road, Litle India and China Town, and also 200m from the MRT, and across the road from Chimes. The deluxe room we had on level 15 was very spacious and quiet. The bedding was very comfortable and the bathroom had a nice deep bath. High speed lifts meant very little waiting.Buffet breakfast was excellent. Located very close to City Hall MRT and Raffles City.

We only stayed 1 evening in this hotel on route back from Australia. We requested a late check out which they were happy to accommodate but we had to upgrade to a Club Room and pay 50% of Club Room rate-which we thought was rather expensive. Although we upgraded to Club Room we didn't get any of the additional Club Room benefits eg use of lounge. Apart from this the hotel was very good, staff helpful and excellent location for Marina/River etc. Would stay there agian but would check out late checkout prices before going to hotel!

The location is great as it close to the MRT City Hall Interchange which allows you to get most places quickly. It is also in walking distance of Suntec, the Espalande and Boat Quay (for the more energetic). Chimes and Raffles are next door as is the Raffles City shopping centre which is linked via an air conditioned, shop lined, underground to Suntec. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Carlton. The room we had, had a very comfortable bed with a spacious bathroom consiting of a bath and separate shower. The breakfasts were great. Most hotels in Singapore are good, however I have found the location of The Carlton to be ideal for the reasons above. I look forward to seeing the new Premier Carlton Hotel which is now in the building process.

Overall I would say this hotel was good. The room was large and clean. The location is excellent, being 2 mins walk to City Hall MRT station and across the road from a nice restaurant and bar area. The satellite TV does not have Star Sports, a consideration if like me there is a sports event you want to catch (it did have ESPN).
I arrived at 6am due to my flight schedule, at first was told I would need to pay an extra day if I wanted a room straight away, in the end I was given a welcome drink coupon and sat in the restaurant until 8am when a room became available. They didn't come over and tell me when the room was available (it was ready when I went back over and asked), but I think being able to check in at 8am is fair enough.
Check out was quick and easy despite front desk being very busy at the time.

I have stayed in this hotel several times in the past, and I had pleasant experiences. Except for this time when I was standing in front of the restaurant waiting for someome to guide me to my table. The receptionist was on the phone, so she just signalled me to go inside. So, I helped myself looking for an available table. All of the sudden, a staff shouted at me and asked me to queue. Several people looked at us with surprise!!! I was speechless and didn't want to cause a commotion, so I just went back to the reception area. The staff approached me and said "Good, you should wait here!" I answered back and said the the lady asked me to go ahead. He questioned the lady and she said yes. To his dismay, he just left without even saying sorry, and I never saw him again. I didn't report the incident to the management anymore since I was in a hurry. Too bad I was not able to get the name of the staff. I have nevber been so humiliated in front of a lot of people.

What I like most about this hotel: The view from my room and accessibility of the hotel to all major attractions in the city - walking distance to Raffles Hotel, Suntec City, and Esplanade.
What I liked least:
1) Basic supplies (usually provided in all 4-star hotels) such as slippers, tooth paste and tooth brush were not provided during the course of my stay. It's a good thing I usually bring these things whenever I travel...
2) Noise from the next room could be heard - I could even hear the flushing of toilet bowl from the next room! (My room no. was 1310 - avoid booking this room, in future!)

The hotel wireless network is sometimes unstable, i.e. it keeps disconnecting or slow at times, but other times it's quite good. And contrary to some of the reviews I've read, the wireless is only available in certain locations in the hotel and not in the rooms.

Wife and I stayed here for 2 weeks and the location is very central I must say. Its close to pubic transport but its far enough from the hustle and bustle of the shopping centres. We much enjoyed the relax atmosphere whenever we walk out of the building every morning.The breakfast becomes a bit samey though even with two choices of restaurants. The food quality is OK.

Housekeeping could be more generous with the coffee and tea-bags, now you get only the minimum 2 bags/day, would appreciate a cup of coffee also when coming to room after a day in town. Some rooms can be noisy, but they are well-appointed, clean and well-serviced. Rooms on the Raffles side are quieter than the other side where there can be diruption from the traffic. Have also had rooms near the service elevators whcih are more noisy than others. The hotel has provided excellent facilities for clients - I have particularly appreciated the assistance in the Business Centre. The hotel is centrally located near to business, shopping and entertainment. Well located close to the CBD, Orchard Road, Clark Quay, etc The food outlets are very good but I reserve special mention for the service in the Lobby Lounge. The entertainment is usually good and the staff attention to the needs of the clients is of a very high standard. I have stayed in this hotel many times and have recommended it to my friends and business colleagues. A little more expensive than some, but the feeling of belonging makes a difference.
