We loved our 4day stay at Amara. Easy walk to great China town shoping. Great breakfast. Underground rail just a block away (it was easy to use the MRT mass rapid transport once we got past the fear of the unknown). We actually stayed at 2 hotels, Amara first for 4days then 4day side trip to Bintan Island then Back to Singapore for 2days to the more expensive Oriental. I found the Amara comfortable and it had some character and a feeling of friendliness whereas the Oriental I found stark and uninviting and stand-offish professional otherwise it too was fine and a little more opulant. I was very disappointed with the spa at the Amara. I wanted to book a simultaneous appointment with my travel companion but they only had one therapist on staff! Other than that, it was a great stay.

We chose the Amara for its location - for personal reasons we particularly wanted to be in this area of Singapore. Although the hotel is away from the city centre, the MRT station is very close and there are buses that go from outside the front of the hotel to Clarke Quay, etc. (Buy an ez-link card at the MRT station and you get discounted travel.) It's a short walk to Chinatown. The concierge was very helpful with information about buses. The hotel is used mainly by business men but that was ok - only we felt a bit scruffy in comparison. The restaurants were quite expensive and breakfast wasn't included in our deal, so we mostly had breakfast in one of the cafés in the shopping centre next door (you can walk through from the hotel directly into the shopping centre). Our standard room was very comfortable with a big bathroom. The aircon was a bit too efficient and the control didn't seem to work, but when we mentioned this, a technician came immediately and sorted it out. The Hue bar has a big screen TV for sports. Lovely swimming pool.

Virtual reality (online) is fine for video gamers and porn addicts But Location, Location and location are still the key factors for success in real busineses. The Amara Singapore was an excellent value overall: nice rooms and located with easy access to the Central Business District, local night life, the MRT, etc. Negatives: in-hotel 'entertainment' mainly lounge lizard quality - not worth staying around for. I will definitely consider staying there again. I got what I needed and requested. hotel was clean - a few flies around breakfast fruits; I killed a cockroach crossing the floor. MRT cabs easy to reach. no internet service available in hotel.

The hotel service was not very consistent whereby somedays newspaper and drinkable water bottles were provided to guests. Room is fairly small even though we stayed in their executive double. There was also a small renovation going on in the hotel whereby there was some slight noise pollution. In my opinion, the hotel could have done better for families with kids and young children.

Hotel is good in all respects, but even with the disocunted Tariff through Hotel Travel, is not value for money. A little small in size, but adequate for a business traveller. Hot water takes a while to run into the taps. Aircon thermo stat was locked at 21 deg c. Has all the facilities required by a business traveller. Front desk staff very efficient and courteous. Very good location and close to CBD. Taxis are easily available from hotel lobby/entrace.

Both hotels are adjacent to a multilevel shopping centre. I recommend both but of the two I prefer our experience with the Amara plus it was not as costly. Definately both are good choices, it just depends on your taste.

Upgrade to Club room simply not worth $S150 a day. Breakfast, unlimited internet and Club Lounge would not justify such a price.

Never have we experienced service personnel that was so friendly and customer oriented. The room was large, the pool was very fancy. Outstanding! a pool with palm trees on the roof is just fancy and the other facilities looked very well equipped, too and breakfast was good, they have like six different restaurants in there. We just asked for the english name of scallops (German: Jacobsmuschel) and they served us a big plate full for just 5 Euros!

Rooms are very clean. Especially I like the bathroom. Bathtub is very comfortable and the shower booth is also nice. The bed is also so good. It's firm and the bedsheet is cotton. But there is one thing unsatisfactory. The buffet breakfast is not delicious and some water drops fall from the airconditioner on the ceiling of the buffet place. The location of this hotel is excellent. There are many Korean restaurant nearby in china town.

A short walk from Tanjong Pajar underground station, an easy ride from the airport. Well connected for Chinatown and the southern business districts. Comfort and service at reasonable rates.

Rooms at Amara Hotel are spacious (twin beds available) and nicely decorated. Bath room is equipped with bath tap as well as separate shower cabin. Breakfast buffet is sumptous. Very stylish swimming pool area. Small gym with basic equipment available. Spa in 6th floor. Amara offers a high-class Thai restaurant and a Vietnamese bistro among others.Shopping center is attached to the hotel. Supermarkets, shops, restaurants also nearby. Tangjong Pagar MRT station is a stone's throw away. Taxi stand in front of hotel. Thus Amara really offers good value for you money.

I love the contemporary interior design of the hotel. The buffet breakfast seating requires better management. Our table was snapped by other people when we got back from the buffet food counters.
