John Callaghan, Australia "We loved our 4day stay at Amara. Easy walk to great China town shoping. Great breakfast. Underground rail just a block away (it was easy to use the MRT mass rapid transport once we got past the fear of the unknown). We actually stayed at 2 hotels, Amara first for 4days then 4day side trip to Bintan Island then Back to Singapore for 2days to the more expensive Oriental. I found the Amara comfortable and it had some character and a feeling of friendliness whereas the Oriental I found stark and uninviting and stand-offish professional otherwise it too was fine and a little more opulant. Both hotels are adjacent to a multilevel shopping centre. I recommend both but of the two I prefer our experience with the Amara plus it was not as costly. The room was large, the pool was very fancy. Outstanding! a pool with palm trees on the roof is just fancy and the other facilities looked very well equipped, too and breakfast was good, they have like six different restaurants in there.
