Staying at the Grand Pacific Hotel was more than like staying at home. We had very good advice from the hotel staff for places to see and offered us cheaper alternatives to do these trips. It was a very convenient place to stay - right in the center of places that matter - a 24 hour food court across the street, a 7-11 for emergencies just right beside it, the Bugis shopping maze two blocks away and more importantly the MRT right behind the hotel! What more can you ask for? The swimming pool a was very refreshing place to unwind after the whole day's walking and tripping. In short, good value for money. The hotel room was a little tired but it was spacious, clean and the AC was efficient. Self-serve Laundromat was very useful after two weeks at sea. Pool was refreshing. The Hotel Grand Pacific is in a great location. MRTs, Shopping Malls and attractions like Bugis Street, Raffles, Suntec, the Flyer, Sands Casino etc are walkable in 10 to 20 minutes.

Overall, my husband and I had a pleasant stay at the Hotel Grand Pacific. Its location is great; there's a 7-Eleven just around the corner from the hotel and McDonald's is just 2 minutes walk away. The room we stayed in was very nice. However, it was rather stuffy as the air-conditioning was not cold enough even though we adjusted it to around 10c. Breakfast at the hotel was just okay for us in terms of price and quality. The hotel employees were friendly. It is easy to catch a cab from the hotel and the nearest MRT station (City Hall) is less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel. We would certainly stay in this hotel again!Hotel Facilities

We were able to check into our room early (by 10a.m.) which was very convenient so that we could head off around Singapore with our room and belongings already organised. On checking out, our luggage was looked after until we returned in the afternoon. Our taxi and luggage was met by the porter outside. Our room had been upgraded free of charge. Within easy walking distance was the extensive Bugis Street Markets, Suntech City where the tour buses depart from, Singapore Flyer and other tourist attractions, Orchard Road for shopping malls and especially for us , 2 Catholic churches within a few hundred metres from the hotel. There was a good and cheap eating arcade across the road from the hotel. Hotel Grand Pacific is indeed a value for money hotel. The rooms have enough spaece are neat, and tidy. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the rooms already have extra beds when we checked in. That was good anticipation, because they had planned ahead for 3 people in each room, without us asking for extra beds. The hotel has good location, right in front is the bus stop, and the Bras Bassah MRT station is just around the corner. There's a Seven Eleven store next to the hotel; and a 24 hour food court at the Bras Basah complex just across the hotel. Just one comment - there were no slippers in the room, and it took a long while before housekeeping brought them up, the staff seemed to have forgotten the room number. If you are looking for clean accommodation in an area which has all the shopping facilities you could wish for you could save yourself hundreds of pounds for a few days stay.

Book well in advance and over the internet to save the most money as compared to just turning up at the hotel and paying the prevailing rates.

The staff at the hotel are brilliant, they are friendly, kind and are always willing to help, not just because it is their job. We stayed in January on level 6 in a very old section of the hotel. The furniture was old and dingy. The room was clean as were the sheets. The bedspread was old worn as were the blanket. A very small bathroom. Carpets fairly new. We were of the understanding that all rooms have been renovated but we were wrong. If you are staying there check that you are in the new rooms. I would rate the hotel as 3* to 3.5* star not 4*. The room and bathroom are in need of refurbisment. The layout of batroom was poor, sanitary ware and tiling outdated and the water draiange from the wash basin was terribly slow. I had an executive room and no complimentary water bottles or newspaper. Breakfast was inclusive of the price but the choice and quality of the food was poor. Had one person cooking the eggs and it was always a long wait. Arranging a taxi took time and i soon realised i could get one myself much faster. the bed was not too comfortable as the springs poked into the back. Hence the reason for me to rate it below 4*. Location is a plus point. No problem getting fast anywhere. MTR is just round the corner but i did not use it as i just walked and caught taxis. Close to eating places and shopping areas. Having said all that, I would recommend persons to stay there as the price i paid, about USD125 per night for an executive room, was very reasoable for Singapore, and the location is good. Internet line was fast enough and the daily internet rate was very reasonable.Hotel Facilities

So yes, we tend to look at things more specifically. However we viewed this hotel from an everyday customer's point of view. This was 'our' experience.
ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE (Check-In & Check-Out):We did not get our room until 1.30pm.Other than that very Efficient.
Reception Staff :
Very friendly staff always smiling and ready to help.
Room:We requested a non-smoking 'double' on a higher floor. The room itself was neat, air conditioning very efficient. The bathroom was OK. The bathtub was small. No view of Singapore.
Room Service: We did not use it.
House Keeping:
Superb staff ! Very helpful.
Concierge:
Worth his weight in gold for the assistance provided to us.
Breakfast Buffet:
Not many choices, but it was Ok.

We were greeted at 4am with friendly staff who were very accommodating to our needs.The breakfast was included in our deal and was above our expectations, however the listed price on the menu seems excessive. The room was clean as was the bathroom although the lack of ventilation in the bathroom made for a very steamy room. The location was superb being within walking distance of 3 different MRT lines and also near Chijmes and a very cheap (and delicious) food court next door. What a gem, was the old Alston now refurbished, updated and badged. Best abalone restaurant in Singapore (in house). Fantastic location close to all the places you need to see and get around, walk to Chimes ("the in" restaurants and night spot in town), Bugis, Raffles (hotel and City shopping centre, bus outside door to China Town and 10-15 minutes to two metro stations. Excellent local low priced eat in or take away restaurants (10 of) market right next door. Large comfortable rooms very well serviced. Super friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel. I arrived at The Allson much earlier than expected ( 8.00am ) in a wheelchair as I was very ill after flying in from Cairo. The staff were extremely helpful, organised a doctor to see me, early check in, extra cleaning of the room, etc. Our room was quiet, which enabled me to sleep well for the 2 days I was in bed, and the hotel close enough for my wife to go out and shop nearby.
