Staying at the Grand Pacific Hotel was more than like staying at home. We had very good advice from the hotel staff for places to see and offered us cheaper alternatives to do these trips. It was a very convenient place to stay - right in the center of places that matter - a 24 hour food court across the street, a 7-11 for emergencies just right beside it, the Bugis shopping maze two blocks away and more importantly the MRT right behind the hotel! What more can you ask for? The swimming pool a was very refreshing place to unwind after the whole day's walking and tripping. In short, good value for money. For our 7 year old boy who had been to a number of hotels he said he wants to stay here forever! We would definitely stay here next time we are in Singapore.

The hotel room was a little tired but it was spacious, clean and the AC was efficient. Self-serve Laundromat was very useful after two weeks at sea. Pool was refreshing. The Hotel Grand Pacific is in a great location. MRTs, Shopping Malls and attractions like Bugis Street, Raffles, Suntec, the Flyer, Sands Casino etc are walkable in 10 to 20 minutes. For the price, I got the room I was stoked, as Singapore is an expensive stopover city.

Overall, my husband and I had a pleasant stay at the Hotel Grand Pacific. Its location is great; there's a 7-Eleven just around the corner from the hotel and McDonald's is just 2 minutes walk away. The room we stayed in was very nice. However, it was rather stuffy as the air-conditioning was not cold enough even though we adjusted it to around 10c. Breakfast at the hotel was just okay for us in terms of price and quality. The hotel employees were friendly. It is easy to catch a cab from the hotel and the nearest MRT station (City Hall) is less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel. We would certainly stay in this hotel again!

Ok hotel, but definitely not worth the four stars. The room was quite old and tired, although a good size. On the sixth floor we had no view to speak of. The bed was hard and too short! The location was ok, with Bugis MRT quite close and at least two large malls nearby. The service was good and friendly. The hotel has a swimming pool but we didn't use it.

We were able to check into our room early (by 10a.m.) which was very convenient so that we could head off around Singapore with our room and belongings already organised. On checking out, our luggage was looked after until we returned in the afternoon. Our taxi and luggage was met by the porter outside. Our room had been upgraded free of charge. Within easy walking distance was the extensive Bugis Street Markets, Suntech City where the tour buses depart from, Singapore Flyer and other tourist attractions, Orchard Road for shopping malls and especially for us , 2 Catholic churches within a few hundred metres from the hotel. There was a good and cheap eating arcade across the road from the hotel. This was our second stay at this hotel due to its excellent location, friendly staff and small enough to feel quite at home.

Hotel Grand Pacific is indeed a value for money hotel. The rooms have enough spaece are neat, and tidy. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the rooms already have extra beds when we checked in. That was good anticipation, because they had planned ahead for 3 people in each room, without us asking for extra beds. The hotel has good location, right in front is the bus stop, and the Bras Bassah MRT station is just around the corner. There's a Seven Eleven store next to the hotel; and a 24 hour food court at the Bras Basah complex just across the hotel. Just one comment - there were no slippers in the room, and it took a long while before housekeeping brought them up, the staff seemed to have forgotten the room number. Overall the stay was a very pleasant one. We will surely come back to this hotel.

The hotel is in an ideal location, close to the MRT and the shopping centres. What disappointed us during our stay was the fact that for 2 nights we were enduring the noise from the karaoke at a restaurant below our room. If you want to stay at this hotel, make sure you request for a room at a much higher level. If you are staying with kids, the lobby area is not very friendly for pram users as there is no permanent ramp.

This hotel is situated in a good area for a decently priced quiet hotel with friendly staff, this is our second stay in this hotel and the cost of staying here is very reasonable compared to some of the other hotels in Singapore. If you are looking for clean accommodation in an area which has all the shopping facilities you could wish for you could save yourself hundreds of pounds for a few days stay. Top Tip Book well in advance and over the internet to save the most money as compared to just turning up at the hotel and paying the prevailing rates.

We stay for 5 nights in a reasonably good size room. Very good location and the staff are friendly. The only thing annoying was being asked at 8am for room service, we end up having to put out the ‘do not disturb' sign before going to bed the previous night.

It is right next door to a multi-level department store (with an excellent food court) and a giant outdoor market, all within 5 minutes of walking. The only thing is that the hotel staff did not appear to be well-trained or professional. The room was small and the furniture looked dated and used. For the price it charged in Singapore, we dont think it was worth the money.

The Grand Pacific Hotel is in an excellent location close to MRT (train) stations and local buses. The staff at the hotel are brilliant, they are friendly, kind and are always willing to help, not just because it is their job. The breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked eggs or omelettes with a buffet in the mornings. The room had been freshly refurbished although I liked it better when they had the rosewood furniture. Everything about the hotel was great, we have visited many times and the staff "always" remember us and that is nice. Much better than other hotels we have visited all over the world. We stayed in January on level 6 in a very old section of the hotel. The furniture was old and dingy. The room was clean as were the sheets. The bedspread was old worn as were the blanket. A very small bathroom. Carpets fairly new. We were of the understanding that all rooms have been renovated but we were wrong. If you are staying there check that you are in the new rooms. The rooms were not 4 star barely 2 star on level 6. The hotel is well located and the staff are very friendly and polite.

I would rate the hotel as 3* to 3.5* star not 4*. The room and bathroom are in need of refurbisment. The layout of batroom was poor, sanitary ware and tiling outdated and the water draiange from the wash basin was terribly slow. I had an executive room and no complimentary water bottles or newspaper. Breakfast was inclusive of the price but the choice and quality of the food was poor. Had one person cooking the eggs and it was always a long wait. Arranging a taxi took time and i soon realised i could get one myself much faster. the bed was not too comfortable as the springs poked into the back. Hence the reason for me to rate it below 4*. Location is a plus point. No problem getting fast anywhere. MTR is just round the corner but i did not use it as i just walked and caught taxis. Close to eating places and shopping areas. Having said all that, I would recommend persons to stay there as the price i paid, about USD125 per night for an executive room, was very reasoable for Singapore, and the location is good. Internet line was fast enough and the daily internet rate was very reasonable.

So yes, we tend to look at things more specifically. However we viewed this hotel from an everyday customer's point of view. This was 'our' experience. ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE (Check-In & Check-Out):We did not get our room until 1.30pm.Other than that very Efficient. Reception Staff : Very friendly staff always smiling and ready to help. Room:We requested a non-smoking 'double' on a higher floor. The room itself was neat, air conditioning very efficient. The bathroom was OK. The bathtub was small. No view of Singapore. Room Service: We did not use it. House Keeping: Superb staff ! Very helpful. Concierge: Worth his weight in gold for the assistance provided to us. Breakfast Buffet: Not many choices, but it was Ok. Overall, a decent hotel, where we 'may' choose to stay again...maybe.

We were greeted at 4am with friendly staff who were very accommodating to our needs.The breakfast was included in our deal and was above our expectations, however the listed price on the menu seems excessive. The room was clean as was the bathroom although the lack of ventilation in the bathroom made for a very steamy room. The location was superb being within walking distance of 3 different MRT lines and also near Chijmes and a very cheap (and delicious) food court next door. The facilities were well maintained and we spent a bit of time at the secluded and intimate outdoor pool. We would definitely stay at the Grand Pacific Hotel again!

Staffs are pretty attentive to your needs. The room is spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. Given the hotel rates are pretty atrocious in just anywhere in Singapore, you might want to try staying at this hotel.

What a gem, was the old Alston now refurbished, updated and badged. Best abalone restaurant in Singapore (in house). Fantastic location close to all the places you need to see and get around, walk to Chimes ("the in" restaurants and night spot in town), Bugis, Raffles (hotel and City shopping centre, bus outside door to China Town and 10-15 minutes to two metro stations. Excellent local low priced eat in or take away restaurants (10 of) market right next door. Large comfortable rooms very well serviced. Super friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel. Great value for money in all departments without paying 5 star prices. Totally recommend this hotel.

Air conditioning works too intensively in public areas so i was frozen in my room. Of course I switched off air conditioner in my room and plugged up the hole between my room door and the floor but that wasn't enough. So i had to demand my room window to be unlocked and then i can only get warm.

The reception staff were rather abrupt but the concierge were friendly and helpful. We were a little worried by other reviews we had read but our room on the 12 th floor was clean and comfortable. The hotel is well situated and the included buffet breakfast was of reasonable standard with plenty of choices.

I arrived at The Allson much earlier than expected ( 8.00am ) in a wheelchair as I was very ill after flying in from Cairo. The staff were extremely helpful, organised a doctor to see me, early check in, extra cleaning of the room, etc. Our room was quiet, which enabled me to sleep well for the 2 days I was in bed, and the hotel close enough for my wife to go out and shop nearby. A great food court is right next door and Raffles hotel a short walk away. Have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would definitely be prepared to stay there again.

We had a late flight out the next day and they allowed us to leave our luggage with the concierge and also have a shower before we left for our flight. We have stayed in this hotel in Singapore many times and this hotel is one of the best. The staff are wonderful and would do anything for you, the rooms were cleaned superbly and the hotel itself is very clean and right in the heart of Singapore, five minutes away from the MRT and buses to all over the city right outside your door. All in all we can say it is perfect and we will definitely be going back next year as we always do for our main holiday.

An old hotel which has had some modifications-ie the bathroom had been re-tiled but the door, mirror were the originals.I think 'dowdy' best describes the hotel. Breakfast was good but the other restaurants had very limited menus

The breakfast wasn't too great, but the hawkers stalls next door were superb! A short walk from Raffles means its in a handy location, and not too far from the MRT.

The hotel is worth the money paid with the HotelTravel rate, the walk-in rate is quite expensive. business facilities are good, the rec room is a bit meagre but there is a nice pool. I would stay there again.

Coming from a cheap hotel in London, this was worth the money we paid for it. A large room with a spacious bathroom. It was cleaned well on three of the four days we stayed there. The staff were very friendly and willing to help in any way. The extra services were a great comfort to us, who had been travelling for the last 10 months. Things like local tips for travelling, holding baggage and allowing use of the change rooms and showers after a day of sight seeing before getting on the plane home, were most welcome. A good spot for reaching many of the favoured tourist destinations.

I really appreciated the honesty and the professionalism of staff particularly reception and cleaners. I forgot my passport in the safe and returned because I initially thought I had lost my mobile phone. The staff advised me about the safe issue and that saved me a lot of problems later down the track. The concierge's very helpful and professional.

Only stayed one night, so don't have much to say. Old-fashioned look to it, with lovely Chinese wood carvings on doors. Not a new hotel, but clean, friendly and helpful.

Extremely good value as we had benefitted from discounted rates. We were greeted warmly and made to feel welcome. Any questions were always answered willingly and the staff could not have been more helpful with a good knowledge of English being a huge asset. Housekeeping standards and staff great. Am more than happy to recommend to fellow travellers

Perfect location. Very near he MRT, I can go anywhere through the City Hall MRT access. For food and shopping, nearby places like Bugis and City Hall shops, plus local eating places around the area, more than provide for all my needs. The hotel is a nice hotel, nothing fancy, very straight forward, but clean, quiet and comfortable. The rooms are nice, not modern, but the amenities are more than enough for one's requirement. I will stay there again when I go back to Singapore for a convention in July of this year.

Good budget accommodation. Stayed with two other girlfriends on a shopping holiday. Great location with MRT within easy walk. Staff very helpful, good breakfast and doormen very friendly and happy to help with any queries re shopping areas, getting taxis etc. For value for money would recommend this hotel. Not as luxurious as some but as we were out shopping all day more than adequate for our needs.
