
RSNO New Year Viennese Gala: the Royal Scottish National Orchestra plays a traditional concert each January featuring the works of Strauss, the Waltz King of Vienna. These uplifting concerts take place at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and are a high profile affair.
Holiday and Travel Show: more than 100 countries are represented at this annual expo designed to promote travel to different places. In addition to tour operators and national tourism offices, visitors can check out traditional music, food and cultural activities from many of the countries in a separate hall.

Celtic connections: the largest Celtic event in the world is also Glasgow's biggest festival of the year. The Royal Concert Hall is where much of the action takes place, featuring traditional Celtic folk music and dance as well as contemporary artists.

Glasgow Film Festival: the latest in Scottish cinema is featured at this homegrown film festival. Venues around the city screen a wide range of films from both local and international filmmakers.

Glasgow Music Fair: one of the largest music trading fairs in the UK happens every March at Kelvin Hall. Music collectors come from around the world to buy, sell and trade anything and everything related to music. There are always some real gems available for the serious or casual collector.
The Glasgow Art Fair: Glasgow has a long tradition as a hotbed of emerging local artists. This yearly event lets the city's artists showcase their work under one big roof, offering art fans the chance to buy some amazing art at bargain prices.

The Great Scottish Walk: this fun annual event is the perfect way to see the parks and historic sights of Glasgow while raising money for a good cause. Walking routes start at 1 mile and go up to 12 miles. Street performers and musicians provide the entertainment for this great social event.

West End Festival: for two weeks Glasgow's trendy West End district is the site for a range of cultural and musical events. The highlight is a Mardi Gras-style parade and carnival that attracts almost everyone in the city.
Glasgow International Jazz Festival: for a week or so at the end of June some of the top international jazz acts come to Glasgow to play in the UK's largest jazz festival. Local musicians add to the lineup, and numerous free shows are planned as part of the Fringe schedule.

Glasgow River Festival: this fun summer festival takes place around the Tall Ship harbour, the Science Centre and SECC. Live music, street performers and a sailing regatta are all parts of this popular waterside event each July.
World Pipe Band Championships: the Glasgow Green comes alive as the sounds of Scottish bagpipes fill the air. The very best bagpipers from across the country and the globe assemble in Glasgow each August to compete and perform for enthusiastic crowds.

Proms in the Park: this kingdom-wide classical music event wraps up with a series of outdoor concerts in all the major cities of the UK. Glasgow Green is the site for a free outdoor performance by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and a nighttime fireworks display over the river.
Doors Open Days: for two weekends every September the city arranges to open the doors to many of the private homes and buildings in Glasgow which are normally closed to the public. This gives people the chance to see the insides of some of Glasgow's most important historic and architectural sites.
Big Big World Festival: global music is the theme of this hugely popular annual festival dedicated to the diversity of music in all its forms. An impressive line up of musicians from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas come to Glasgow to showcase their unique talents and jam together.
Glasgay!: claiming to be the UK's largest gathering of gay and lesbians for a festival of the arts, this yearly event offers one of the most eclectic schedules you can imagine. The genres of film, theatre, music and visual arts are all represented by local Scottish talent as well as aspiring artists from around the region.

Partick Folk Festival: Glasgow goes back to its roots for this popular folk festival featuring the best of traditional music, dance and singing. Guests can enjoy a West Highland Ceilidh, or ancient folk dance. Some of the performances are even free at the Annexe.
Glasgow Fireworks Night: as a part of Bonfire Night, Glasgow Green buzzes with activity day and night when live bands, entertainment and a fair set up on the lawns for some fun. It all culminates with a massive firework show set to music which shoots some 50,000 rockets into the sky.
Hogmanay: Glasgow's raucous New Year's Eve party is one of the highlights of the entertainment calendar as 100,000 people throng the streets. Patrons from pubs and bars spill out into the area around George Square where the main action takes place. Live concerts and plenty of partying keep the crowds warm until the stroke of midnight.

RSNO Christmas Concert: this special performance by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra at the Royal Concert Hall features the classic seasonal carols. An afternoon concert showcases the RSNO Junior Chorus, while the big evening show is sung by the RSNO Chorus.
