The room was good and reasonably spacious. The inclusive minibar/beverage facilities are a good aspect. The minisafe was broken on arrival and despite being asked twice no one fixed this during my 3 day stay. The room service food is very restricted....difficult to get anything to eat either inside or outside the hotel if you arrive late evening.
The position of the hotel is outstanding, with excellent access to all the city centre, but also easy access to the metro next door, the station 1 minute away and readily available taxis.
Breakfast was decidedly mixed. The cold buffet was excellent and varied. The staff were pleasant and reasonably efficient. The cooked breakfast was, in my view, really quite poor, especially as it is a 'feature' in Scotland. The sausages in particular were palid, a bit tastless and undercooked. The rest of the cooked breakfast seemed less 'freshly-prepared' than I would expect and was rather greasy. I did not use the Restaurant in the evening or during lunchtime.
It would be nice to have an actual bar in the hotel rather than having to go next door into the pub. The public hallways and the room both smelt stale and musty throughout my stay.
