The nearest full-service airport to Olongapo City is Ninoy Aquino International Airport, located in Manila. This is the premier facility for the Philippines and is serviced by over 30 airlines providing flights from points around the world. In addition, there is a secondary airport in Olongapo, known as Subic Bay International Airport, located closer to Olongapo city. The Subic Bay facility is serviced mostly by chartered planes.
Philippine Airlines, the national carrier, links Ninoy Aquino International Airport with 14 cities internationally. In conjunction with Cebu Pacific Airlines, Philippine Airlines provides connections to many domestic destinations. The airport provides a comprehensive range of passenger facilities including banking, ATMs and currency exchanges, as well as tourist assistance and information. Souvenir and duty-free shopping, car hire and health care are also available at the airport.
The main means of transfer from Manila’s international airport to Olongapo is by bus. Buses depart for Olongapo and other points in the Subic Bay area from Manila’s airport every hour beginning at 04:00 and continue until 19:00 daily. Service is provided on air-conditioned buses at reasonable prices. The trip takes around three hours, unless traffic is heavy.
The most convenient means for getting around Olongapo and Subic Bay is by taxi. Most taxi services are metered, however, drivers may try to avoid using the meter. If the driver refuses to switch on the meter, it’s best to find another taxi as quoted prices are likely be at least double the metered fare. Drivers appreciate banknotes in small denominations and a tip for good service.

Some hotels own and operate ‘private’ taxi services. You are advised that these taxis typically cost at least five times the normal metered fare. Area bus service is available, but conditions are often crowded and the route system is limited.

Another fun option is to take a colourful jeepney. Jeepneys might seem like transport that targets tourists, but in fact it’s often the choice of locals as well, particularly for travelling short distances and to destinations not on bus routes. Service is available 24-hours.
