There are some unusual attractions located in and around Olongapo, ranging from historical monuments to the unique Bat Kingdom. The zoo and its butterfly garden are popular places to visit, as are the city’s Friendship and Rizal parks. For those interested in diving and other water sports, the short trip out to the Enchanted Castle makes for a perfect daytrip.
 Bat Kingdom Subic's bamboo and flying fox bats are unique attractions. Bat Kingdom is home to more than 10,000 fruit bats, the smallest of the bats native to the Philippines. This is the largest protected forest reserve of its kind in the world. On Bat Highway you’ll have the chance to see thousands of bats in flight as they fly along this narrow strip at sunset.
 Cubi Point Zoo Located at upper MAU camp, this small zoo serves also as an environmental education centre. At the zoo you can see eagles, monkeys, python and some smaller snakes, turtles and wild pigs. Staff specialists at the centre facilitate workshops on jungle survival skills. Also at this complex is the Butterfly Garden, which was created by rigging netting high in the trees to form an enclosure for thousands of butterflies. Most of the native species are represented in this very colourful habitat. You can enjoy the beautifully-landscaped grounds and flowering plants as you walk along the rocky paths and over the bridges that span the small streams here.
 Enchanted Castle Located on a coral reef that’s not far offshore from Baloy Beach Resort, the Enchanted Castle can easily be reached by speed boat or banca. Refreshments are available at the castle, which is perfect for use as a base for deep-water scuba diving and other water sports.
 Friendship Park Situated next to the main gate of the Subic Bay Freeport, this park is a long, narrow expanse that borders Perimeter road. Along its northern edge you’ll find a small park for children and the Olongapo-Bremerton Sisterhood Marker, which commemorates the sister-city relationship that was established between Olongapo City and Bremerton, US.
 Rizal Park Rizal Park is the oldest of the city’s public parks and is the venue for many civic programmes and gatherings. This is a popular place for local residents to meet their friends and spend time relaxing in the shade provided by the park’s many trees. The park is also a popular place for kids to play.
 Spanish Gate The original fortified settlement built by the Spanish navy, which was the foundation for today’s Olongapo City, is marked at its entrance by the Spanish Gate. This gate is now found inside the US naval base, and has been preserved as a symbol of Spain’s dominance of Subic Bay in the late 19th century.
World Peace Memorial This memorial greets visitors at the entrance to the city of Olongapo, and was erected in the memory of those who fought and died in the Battle of Zigzag Pass. This battle was one of the longest and most devastating of WWII in this area. The monument signifies the hope for lasting peace.

Discover new creatures at Triboa Bay. There’s a range of animal species living in and around the roots of the mangroves in Triboa Bay. Visitors can drive through the low-lying forested area in Subic to Mangrove Park and then take a walk along the boardwalk to Triboa Bay’s Marine Park. The park is a major breeding site for many species of birds and water fowl.
Explore the Subic Bay by boat. Hiring a banca boat is a popular pastime and a great way for visitors to explore Subic Bay. This is an inexpensive way to tour the bay, taking you past White Rock and then around Subic City and past Philseco to the well-known Gaines Beach. You can arrange a stop for lunch and have a swim before heading back across the bay.
 See the sights from Hill 394. Hill 394 is the most popular peak in the Subic Bay area, at a height of more than 1300ft above sea level (or 394 metres, hence its name). From the top of the hill you can enjoy spectacular views of Mount Natib and Subic Bay, which lies to the northwest.
 Stroll the waterfront boardwalk. This is the perfect place for you to start or end your day. From the boardwalk you can watch the beauty of a sunrise or sunset on Subic Bay. The mountains of the Redondo peninsula add a dramatic touch to the striking colours of the sky at these times of day.
Try your luck at a casino. If you’d like to spend a evening at the gaming tables, you’ll find a casino located inside the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority centre on Magsaysay drive. There are an additional two casinos in the Olongapo area: one in the Legenda Hotel and the other located in the Grand Seasons Hotel. Games at local casinos include 21, baccarat and roulette, while there are also lots of slot machines available.
 Visit the Subic naval base. At one time this base was the largest support base for the US Navy in the Pacific Ocean. Originally the main naval station in the Philippines for Spain, it was turned over to US control in 1898. For a time during WWII, Japanese forces took control of the facility.
