Rated #3 for all Manila hotels
Consistently excellent, and extremely good value for a high-end hotel. Spices restaurant, on the ground floor, is one of the best in Manila. Sunday brunch in Nielson's (ground floor, again) is a terrific deal. The concierge recommended several excellent places to visit at night. Security is comprehensive, without being intrusive. You can find a cheaper place to stay in Makati, but not a better place to stay....

Excellent hotel, with superior service and first-class restaurants. Recently rerouted traffic makes it difficult to walk from here to the Glorietta Mall, but it is only a 1 USD taxi ride away.

We stayed at the Peninsular for four nights attending a friend's wedding in Makarti, an absolutely breath taking foyer is an experience in itself.
The staff were friendly, courteous and attentive at all times. The quality of the room was great, the only mild criticism is I believe they place too much furniture in the rooms making them appear smaller than they actually are.
One pointer for tourists, the car voucher system is charged back via your room and is horrifically expensive in comparison to the normal taxi pricing. (the same travel was 107 peso's by cab, versus 450 through the hotel. In addition a trip to the domestic airport was 1,400 peso's compared to 450 when we took the original car from the international airport!!)
Overall, I would highly recommend the Peninsular as a place to stay.

Belldesk too slow as I had to call down for drop off of luggage upon check-in. Check-in a bit slow and impersonal. Not much hospitality exhibited . To compare , lessons can be learned from the J.W. Mariott in Bangkok on Sukhumitt as that truly is a 5 Star Hotel. Check out was more friendly and hospitable. As a frequent flyer in Business and First and a frequent hotel overnighter throughout the year , I believe first impressions with reception staff and bell services define your hotel. I must be honest that I was not impressed and have an average opinion of the services. Not a 5 Star caliber. Sorry.

The service at the Peninsula Manila Hotel was impeccable. I would have given Excellent across the board, but the pool water was green when we were there in July 2005. On this recent trip, which included stays in Japan, Philippines, Guam and Hawaii, our stay at the Peninsula Manila was the most satisfying. We will definitely stay at the Peninsula Manila on our next trip.
