Main problem or difficulty when you stay in MNL hotel must be to hire a car for me. Before there was a cooperative taxi drivers group just beside the hotel providing a very reasonable and hospitable service. But they were gone due to some reasons. Instead, the hotel made a contract with the NISSAN rent-a-car service right now since probably last Feb or March, but it is unbelivably expensive. That is only the headache for me while staying in the Manila Hotel. Jason Concepcion, Australia
The rooms & lobby are actually quite nice (traditional Filipino theme), although the breakfast was disappointing. The staff were ok, but not outstanding, which is odd for the Philippines. Cheaper than the 5-star hotels in Makati, but the level of service showed it. Swimming pool looked somewhat old. It was still worth the money though. The lobby & rooms were nicer than some of the 5-star hotels in Makati. A HotelTravel.com Member, Netherlands
Still ok, but parts getting old: kazebo next to pool is almost completely broken, toilet is getting really old, no ventilation/exhaust in bathroom. Ilan Ilang cafe (breakfast room & restaurant) is really too cold to sit comfortably due to the airco settings. The food is good though and the staff is friendly.
Overall the price has gone up too much. Vanessa Köhler, Germany
Very friendly staff. Big and clean room. A place to relax after a busy day in Manila. Jo Flint, Philippines
Manila Hotel has been my fav eversince. The best are the musicians in the lobby, they played lovely nostalgic music. Michitaka Yamaguchi, Japan
Manila Hotel is My most favorite hotel in the Philippines.Though the internet access in the room should be for 24 hours use and free!!! Terry Cooper, United Kingdom
Hotel has character - especially the lobby. Quiet - at 'port' end of hotel, where our rooms were located. Interconnecting room for our children was a big plus. Good room size - nicely furnished - also with a bit of character. Coloured bathroom suite a bit outdated - however, all facilities worked! Wide choice of dishes for breakfast, which was excellent. Friendly restaurant staff. Surprisingly quiet in pool and garden area - as shielded from road traffic by the hotel building. Rizal Park just across the road. We will stay again if the price is as reasonable as this time - £50/night for twin room inc. breakfast. A HotelTravel.com Member, Japan
I've just booked this hotel for 1 night only before my departure.
Before my stay, I've checked many reviews, and guessed that it would be an average hotel among the other 5 star hotels. After my stay, I need to tell you that it was a little bit worse than my guess.
The hotel is old, and the thing I and my wife laughed is the name looks "ANILA HOTEL" in the night looking from the front because the light of "M" is out of order.
The room facility service is terrible. We call room service since there was only 1 set of toothbrush and paste, but ended up waiting for more than 20 mins and calling 3 times in total.
The rate is not so expensive as the other 5 star hotels, but guessed this might be the reason... the workers might be too much busy or too much lazy... I don't know actually but guessed this hotel does not train employees or does not cost for them. Anyway, this event made us very uncomfortable.
But the other employees are very nice. The waiters in the buffet was very friendly and volunteered to take pictures for us when I hold the camera. And the doorman explained how to get to the airport in a courteous manner.
And it's a little far if you would like to go to the restaurants outside the hotel. When we went to look for it in the night around 10 pm, it looks a little bit dangerouns. So, if you think it seriously, you'd better choose another hotel The conclusion is it's worse than expected, but the rate is cheap and no problem if you regard this hotel as 3 star or 4 A HotelTravel.com Member, Philippines
Interesting Filipino traditions are very much evident in this hotel. It's closeby many cultural places as well. It is a pleasure staying at Manila Hotel. Antonino Avedana, Philippines
The AGE of this hotel is obvious with its furnishings. The service of its staff is satisfactory, except for the pool attendant who seems to require guest relations orientation. Compared to other hotels that I have used through your service, I do not think that what I got is worth what I paid to this hotel. |
