I have just returned from 5 nights in Southlands Manor Manila. Security is good as the hotel is on the Southlands Mabnor Country Club with 24 hour guards at all access points. The hotel is in dire need of renovation and redecoration - room smell musty and the carpets are badly stained. It is definitely not "in Alabang Town Center". The hotel can provide a shuttle bus which takes 20/25 mins and costs US$15 e/w. There is no swimming pool or gym in the hotel guests are free to use these facililties at the Southlands Manor Country Club - a 10 min walk away. The clubhouse is similarly run down ansd the pool poorly maintained. The golf course is well maintained and indeed 95% of the hotel guests are Korean golfers. TV reception is poor with normal snowy picture and periods during the day of no signal. Suites include a kitchenette but this is totally unequipped and only available for use by long term guests. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. The hotel maintains it is safe to drink the tap water so no free bottled water is provided 500ml bottles cost US$1.50. Food in the 24 hour coffee shop is good quality but there is limited choice and routinely items are "not available" . There is no separate bar. I had to call for maintenance to get any hot water and even then it was not really hot and it took almost 15 minutes to run enough for a bath. The business centre is non-existent there is a room with a desk and a computer which has slow broadband access . All in all

I stayed there for 5 days and only thing that i found as excellent was the hospitality staff - despite poor business facilities. They have a nice golf course and a lovely swimming pool but i dont think they ever clean the pool. The hotel is good if you wish to escape from crowd and hubbub of the deafening city. Rooms are quite ok and clean and the bathrooms are bit small.
Looking into the price aspect, they are quite competitive. you definitely need to have a car of your own to stay in this hotel. but i would like to go to this place at least once more.

The location is good for me because it was not far from my family home.
