The absolutely fascinating tropical island of Boracay is one of the most well known destinations in the world. The island itself has an extensive collection of long white sand beaches, stunning cave and lush tropical jungles. Boracay has a wonderful tourism infrastructure and provides a full range of facilities including top-notch hotels and health resorts, wonder restaurants that serve the freshest seafood imaginable and great shopping opportunities. The sparking beaches offer and endless selection of activities including wind surfing, snorkelling, diving, jet skiing and Banana Boat riding. For those who would rather participate in sports on dry land, onshore activities such as hiking and trekking along the amazing trails, mountain biking and horseback riding are extremely popular activities. Golfers will certainly be delighted by the stunning 18-hole courses that offer marvellous views. A boat tour is one of the best ways to see the natural beauty of Boracay. Visitors can hire local sailboats to explore this magnificent tropical paradise.

As a holiday destination, the island of Boracay is among the Philippines’ most popular. Picture trendy bars, sophisticated restaurants and luxury hotels set on an idyllic island and you begin to scratch the surface of what this elite destination has to offer. Only partially developed, mass commercial tourism is confined to just a single area, meaning opportunities to enjoy peace, tranquillity and solitude, are also available.
Although Boracay doesn’t have much in the way of purpose-built facilities aimed at young visitors, this doesn’t preclude families from taking holidays here. On the contrary; the island’s greatest attraction is its beaches, which are perfect places for children to while away endless sunny days enjoying sand and sea activities. Aside from the beach, there are a few unique attractions that allow you to get up close to Boracay’s native flora and fauna.
Boracay celebrates all Philippine national holidays as well as a number of festivals that are enjoyed exclusively by the locals. The highlight of the calendar is the Ati-Atihan Festival in January, a colourful celebration that originates from Kalibo on the island of Panay.
Boracay is teeming with visual treats for visitors. The natural beauty that the island enjoys is Boracay’s biggest draw, with picture postcard perfect beaches and geographical wonders. While the stunning coastline is where most people hang out, the interior holds a few natural treasures that are also worth seeing.

The nearest airport to Boracay is a very small domestic facility located at Caticlan in the municipality of Malay in the province of Aklan. The airport receives flights from Asian Spirit and South East Asian Airlines only. Flight times from the Philippine capital city of Manila are 35 to 45 minutes. Connections are also available with Cebu City’s Angeles/Clark International Airport. There are seasonal services from Coron Airport also. Flights from Manila to Caticlan by Air Philippines are due to begin at the end of 2007.
