Airports
Tocumen International Airport serves the city and is a major gateway to the entire country also, maintaining connections largely within the Americas. The US is well connected, with regular flights to most major cities provided by the likes of Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines and American Airlines. The country’s national carrier, Copa Airlines serves a large number of Central and South American cities as well as destinations in the US also.
Tocumen Airport is located 17kms from the centre of Panama City and is a reasonably well-equipped facility in terms of its passenger services and amenities. Dining and shopping outlets are on hand both land and airside of the terminal and a bank and ATM are also available. There are public bus services between the airport and the city or visitors can choose between taxis and rental cars; with a number of companies on hand offering the latter.
Public Transport
Buses comprise Panama City’s public transportation and services are, on the whole, both cheap and efficient. The Albrook Bus Terminal, situated just outside of the city centre, is the destination to and from which all services arrive and depart. From Allbrook, it’s possible to get a bus to just about anywhere in the country. Taxis are widely available in Panama City however visitors should insist that the meter is used and it may be wise to ask for an estimate of cost prior to undertaking your journey.
