Oman still evokes an ancient times even while welcoming visitors with luxury and style. It is a beautiful country marked by some of the most unique landscapes and beautiful beaches in the Middle East. To the south of United Arab Emirates, Oman is the charming, sleepy neighbour to Dubai’s life in the fast lane. It is the place to come experience the real Arabia; Sinbad’s Arabia. Occupying the south-eastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, Oman has over 2100km of coastline stretching along the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman.
Rich in history and culture, Oman has a lot to offer its visitors. Though most of its landscape is desert, Oman is blessed with beautiful beaches, high mountains and even lush tropical regions.
The capital Muscat is one of the oldest cities in the Middle East. More like a town than a city, Muscat’s real appeal is its exotic atmosphere. The seafront is spectacular with its crimson sand, picturesque houses and the ancient alleyways of Mutrah Souk - the oldest market in Muscat. White and beige villas, palaces and forts are tucked among rugged red hills, which meet the emerald sea. Bushels of brilliant bougainvilleas burst over walls and street corners. The air is quiet and fresh; the roads are smooth with little traffic.
Visitors will be surprised by the vegetation in Salalah, the capital of the southern region. One of the only places in the Arabian Peninsula that catches the monsoon, Salalah is a small city set amongst coconut groves and banana plantations and trimmed with sandy beaches.
A land of mystery, hidden treasures and magnificent beaches, Oman is ideal for those seeking an exotic and unique destination, unspoilt and still relatively untouched by tourism.
