Very handy to station and opposite the new opera house with a spectacular view of it. Tea and coffee making facilities in room which is good. Ask for a room with a shower if that matters as there is a choice. Also if coming from the station exit past the airport train as there is a direct route to the hotel entrance. Booking through HotelTravel is good value and saves around $100 AUD on the regular rate. The station area is undergoing major works at present so this will be better in the future.

Thon Hotel Opera in Oslo is a good hotel in a very central loaction right next to the train station. Hotel's services are very basic but you can find everything. Down side to this hotel is the food and beverage facilities which are very limited, very poor breakfast buffet in particular, if you wanted to order something to your room, you are calling the pizzeria which is aroundthe corner, I think there should be a room service, not necessarily for 24 hrs but there must be a room service, Staff is very friendly and helpful. No Excange facilities in the hotel, but there is an exchange office in train station which is next door. Free internet acces in business center which is located in lobby area. In room internet is not working. I usually stay in hign end hotel worldwide maybe that is why I am critisising a lot, but overall I had a good experience in the hotel opera and if I return to Oslo I would stay there again.

Staff at check-in was not well informed about their own hotel policies and experience with the staff in the breakfast room (while entering) was awful. Very unfriendly and in no way helpful. Room was very nice and well equiped.
Staff was making up new rules when it suited them and when we decided to have breakfast (which wasn't booked in advance) they made huge problems about the payment. This could not be charged to the room, but had to be paid for in cash. Unfortunately the change took quite a long time.
We were travelling with friends and had made a reservation for breakfast under one of our friend's name and they insisted on asking if we knew this person.
Terrace outside was nice, but not often cleaned.
