Aspen on Queenstown is a very friendly, unpretentious hotel, with a cosy atmosphere. The hotel has a Alpine style architecture which blends with this part of New Zealand's countryside.

Decor very drab in public areas and bedroom, cleanliness could have been better in bedroom and bathroom all a bit tatty! Not given a lake view on arrival as booked, but room moved. Good views but a long way from town.

We enjoyed the view of the mountains from the Lake View Room we booked. Luckily we hired a car and were fully mobile thus avoiding the long steep climb up the hill to the hotel. The room was warm and comfortable with all the facilities we needed during our spring stay. Desk staff helped us book a helicopter trip and saved us time at no extra cost. Although 'out of town' the hotel is minutes away from all activities in the area, however I would recommend having your own transport when staying here. I would certainly consider returning to the Aspen.
