First settled by Berber fishermen in the 7th century, the region now known as Casablanca was later home to a small kingdom known as Anfa that established itself as an entity independent of the Arab rule that the remainder of the kingdom fell under. Anfa survived independently only until 1068 however, when it was conquered by the Almoravids.
Sharing the land with the golfers of the Anfa Royal Golf Club, horse riders have access to a specially designated track which takes them through some lush greenery and over a mildly undulating terrain. This is not really the place for novices to try out but rather for those already with some skills in the saddle.
New Year’s Day: while not the first day of the New Year in the Islamic calendar, the first of January is still observed as a significant date and the citizens of Casablanca enjoy a day off in line with the rest of the country.
Observe the comings and goings of one of Africa's busiest ports where cruise liners and oil tankers dock and set sail throughout the day every day. A vibrant atmosphere prevails in the area and a real sense of the spirit of the city and its heritage can be experienced by a simple walk around the dockland district.
Mohammed V International is the main airport serving the city of Casablanca and providing the chief gateway for international visitors arriving from Europe, North America and the Middle East. The airport serves a number of domestic locations including Marrakech, Tangier and Agadir. Major French and Spanish cities offer the most frequent connections to the city. Among the airport's many facilities and services are shops and restaurants, a business centre, VIP lounge, car rental office, bank, bureau de change and post office. For ground transportation, passengers can take a rail shuttle service to the city from a station located at the Arrivals hall. A bus service also operates while taxis can be found at a stand outside of the terminal building.
All visitors to Casablanca are advised to be immunised against polio and typhoid prior to their trip and to consider also having a rabies immunisation if close contact with animals is likely. STDs are as prevalent in Morocco as any country and hence it's wise to be as conscientious with regards to the safety of your sexual practices as you would back in your own country.

This month's lucky winner is Mr. Laith Addabbas who lives in Jordan.
