Airports

Agadir is essentially a fly-in and fly-out resort destination so its airport is the main entry point to the city. Al-Massira Airport is located 25 kilometres from the centre of Agadir. Its single terminal is spacious and modern, containing every amenity you will need upon arriving in Morocco.

There is an ATM, currency exchange kiosk, a couple of souvenir shops, a café and a somewhat-useful ONMT tourist office. Rental car firms have their offices near the exit of the terminal. Most of the hotels and resorts in Agadir provide airport pickup for their guests if you prearrange it. Package holidaymakers will also find that airport transport is usually part of their package.

Independent travellers can take a taxi, which uses a flat rate to get into Agadir. There is also a very nice airport shuttle that leaves for the centre of Agadir nine times each day between 8.30am and midnight. Or you can always rent a car, which could prove useful if you plan to explore some of the beautiful coastline in either direction from Agadir.

Public Transport

Long-distance coaches and grands taxis are the other ways to reach Agadir from the major cities of Morocco. The coaches will drop you off on the outskirts of town, while the grands taxis run from the corner of rue de Fes and rue d'Essaouira. If you drive into Agadir, the coastal road from Essaouira or the highway from Inezgane are the main ways to drive into town.

Agadir is certainly compact enough to walk to most places you’d want to see. Otherwise, you can hire a petit taxi that can be shared by up to three passengers or hired privately to get around. Renting a scooter by the day is another fun cheap way to get around Agadir in style. Car rentals are really only useful if you plan to travel outside of the town.

The Petit Train d'Agadir is a cute tourist train that runs on a 40-minute loop around Agadir. It hits all the southern resorts, from the northern end of the promenade to the avenue du Prince Moulay Abdallah and avenue Hassan II. The main pickup point is at boulevard du 20 Aout, at the bottom entrance to the Valley of the Birds. The train runs continuously from 09.15 to 18.00, repeating the loop on the hour.
