Two airports serve Monterrey—the main Monterrey International Airport (Mariano Escobedo Airport) and Del Norte Airport, which is for private and cargo planes. Facilities at the main commercial airport are good and it receives flights from London, Madrid and many major US cities like Chicago, New York, and LA. Flights also come in from all over Mexico, including from Mexico City, Cancun, and Tijuana, with flag carriers and low-cost airlines.
Getting to the city is mainly by way of taxi, where you pay a fixed fee at the desk in Arrivals—retain your ticket as you’ll need to show the driver. The cheapest option for getting to the city from the airport is with the hourly Skybus. It takes 30 minutes to get to the city centre, a bit longer to Valle Oriente in San Pedro, and comes with WiFi. Car hire is also readily available.

There are several public transport options in Monterrey, including buses, the underground, trolley, taxis and car hire. For getting around the downtown area – the Gran Plaza and Barrio Antiguo – the useful tourist trolley does regular circuits. For travel farther afield, you are better off sticking to metered taxis than trying to navigate bus and metro routes.
Although Monterrey has a modern subway, has two lines, one above and one below ground. The underground Line 2 is most useful to tourists as it passes by several notable attractions. Buses go all over, with numbers 18 and 1 most useful to tourists. Getting around town by car is tough and parking is limited while cycling can also be tricky. Riverboats run between Gran Plaza and Parque Fundidora.
