January
 New Year's Day In contrast to the rather solemn and low-key Christmas festivities, New Year’s Day is celebrated with spectacular fireworks, great music concerts, feasts and drinking.
February
 Malta Carnival A magical event that is for many the highlight of Malta’s festive calendar, the Carnival features a procession of colourfully decorated floats, plenty of fireworks, great food and endless supplies of wine and beer.
March
 Holy Week (Easter) This is another religious event that is celebrated very solemnly in every city, town and village in Malta. Nonetheless, the authentic atmosphere of the festivities is very moving, and is a great experience for Catholics and non-Catholics alike.
April
 Fireworks Festival Held at the Grand Harbour in Valletta, this event features an astonishing volume of spectacular fireworks. Pyrotechnic experts from all over the world descend on the city to show off their best displays.
 National Folk Singing Festival This event has folk singing performances from cultures all across the Mediterranean. Held at the fabulous Argotti Gardens in Floriana, this festival is cultural immersion at its best.
June
 Feast of St Peter and St Paul and Harvest Festival These week-long feasts are an extremely important part of the traditional lifestyle of the Maltese. Held throughout the country, the celebrations typically include fireworks, singing, dancing, music and plenty of eating and drinking.
August
 Feast of the Assumption Another important annual feast celebrated across the country. Similar to the June feasts, the Feast of the Assumption has plenty of traditional performing arts programmes, capped with fireworks.
September
 Malta International Air Show This is a spectacular annual event that features exhibitions of historic aircraft and displays by some of the best air force aeronautic teams in the world.
October
 Malta Historic Cities Festival A wonderful event that lasts for 11 days, the Malta Historic Cities Festival is held in the main cities and towns on Malta (chiefly Valletta, Medina and Vittoriosa) and feature re-enactments of important events in the country’s history as well as plenty of cultural performances.
 Middle Sea Race With the Royal Malta Yacht Club as its base, this annual offshore yachting classic is considered one of the most sought after trophies on the IRC race calendar.
 Festival Mediterranea Held on the island of Gozo, this fantastic festival is full of cultural and artistic offerings. There are great traditional performing arts displays as well as plenty of delicious cuisine and beverages.
November
 Malta International Choir Competition and Festival This event invites some of the best choirs and musicians from all over the world to participate in the competition. A must for music lovers and those who appreciate choir singing.
December
 Christmas Being a fervent Catholic nation, Malta celebrates Christmas very solemnly, with plenty of services scheduled in the myriad of historic cathedrals and churches that dot the islands. Experiencing Christmas in Malta brings to life the true spirit of this important religious festival.
