very nice and safe location, staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean and quiet, very classy design. Nice restaurant and coffee shop. And I love the rooftop swimming pool. If you need to book this hotel, I suggest you book it early as most government official from Malaysia and business corporation will book this hotel to the fullest....

Standard room is quite small, nevertheless it creates a cozy feeling. The room window was facing a wall, but we were not there for view gazing anyway. The staffs were extremely helpful and friendly. We tried the italian restaurant and the cafe next to it. The food taste was ok, however for the price we would expect more. Other minor drawback is that the wlan connection was quite expensive, either 15 Ringgit for 1h or 40 Ringgit for a day. For this class of hotel we would expect that they at least offer a free wlan at lobby, and a better pricing overall. But overall, it was definitely value for money, and given the chance, we would stay there again!

This was the best hotel we saw in Kuala Lumpur. - Best place - Time Square Mall directly vis á vis - KL Express direct and the room was perfect!! We'll stay there next time again. ALl the best.

We chose the Merdeka Palace Hotel because of the 5 star rating and the high satisfaction rates as shown on the website. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with this hotel and found the rooms in need of a good clean and redecoration (including our Deluxe room). Please be warned that the Standard rooms face into a multi storey car park which is part of the hotel. When we say face the car park, we mean that the windows of the room are inside the parking areas and look out onto the grilles of cars less than 6 feet away. We also found many of the staff quite uncaring and would not speak until spoken to first. The hotel was also visited regularly by young ladies willing to entertain guests. Our final frustration was that we visited the hotel during the world cup matches and were looking forward to watching England live on tv within the wine bar. To our amazement, this has been reserved by the owner of the hotel who had instructed staff not to let hotel guests into the room as he wished to watch the football match undisturbed.
Our needs were eventually met by a warm and welcoming Hilton Hotel in Kuching, where we had excellent food, wonderful service and watched the world cup with our friends from all countries. Our next stay in Kuching will certainly be at the Hilton and not the Merdeka Palace.

The front desk does not really very helpful in during check-in time. "Cold" not warm enough toward late nite check in (its only 10pm!!) More room for improvement.
