The Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort is at the point where the jungle meets the sea, overlooking one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. Rasa Ria's world is a retreat from the pressures of a cosmopolitan world yet with all the amenities. The Rasa Ria Resort is a good accommodation choice if travelling in this part of Sabah.

Rated #5 for all Sabah hotels
the hot el has great natural resources. The rainforest and sea are very amazing.
The Malay design buidings are also charming.
In the night, you can see frogs jumping in front of you. The brids singing is also clear around.
Even in raining day,the hotel is very worth to stay and enjoy its tropical atmosphere.

Beautiful resort with excellent beach. But too far from city with lack of any public transport.Compared to Ocean wing, garden wing is crowded with few (and unkind) staff - we had to wave our hands for 5 minutes to order a drink at poolside deck. All activities require additional charge. Room service comes a bit late & cold..
But still beautiful beach, it was nice holiday.

Friendly staff, lovely setting, amazing restaurants. I could not fault this hotel. Service was 5 star and way ahead of another 5 star hotel we stayed at in Kota Kinabalu. Is out of town but as a place to relax it cant be beaten in Sabah. The orangutans were an added bonus.

We've stayed in rasa Ria for 2 nights and it was a quite good experience. The Hotel is good and the staff is wonderfull. Very kind and dilligent service. We stayed in an ocean view room and the room is quite big and comfortable. A litle bit outdated in termsof decoration but still nice. The Hotel is in a very isolated area, so it's ideal for relaxing, though it was full.
What we didn't like so much was the meals because the relation between quality/price is a bit exagerated. For example, we paid 76 Ringgits for a Buffet Diner at the Cofee Shop and we though it was overpricedin terms of the food offered.
The Coast Restaurant is good and has a great atmosphere. Another thing that the Hotel should consider having, due to is isolated location, is a bar where one can enjoy some nice music at night and probably dance. The Coast is more of a restaurant than a bar.
Overall, it was a nice experience and Sabah is beautifull.

Overall, very disappointed. Only hotel out of 6 in the last few weeks that was not up to standard. Advertised as luxury resort, but rooms are small and dated. Our children were not allowed to participate in any of the activities, apparently for legal reasons. Because the resort is out of the city, this left us with very little to do. The advertised jungle reserve, is also only available for guided walks twice a day, you are not allowed in on your own - again our children were discouraged from attending. On one of the days, our room was not even made up. Despite this, the staff were all lovely. I wouldn't go to this resort unless you are middle aged to elderly and enjoy vegetating on a sunlounge all day, because there is nothing else to do!
