Often referred to as the Land of Grace, Perak Darul Ridzuan is a wonderful destination with something for everyone. The people here are warm and friendly and there is a rich and vibrant culture and history.
There are plenty of options here for families with children. The beach provides some of the most popular activities from snorkelling to jet-skiing, but there are lots of other options too. The Deer Farm in Maderang is great for younger children, as is the Perak State Library, while some hotels have skate-boarding ramps for guests.
Perak has a number of events and festivals taking place throughout the year. Chinese New Year is one of the biggest events here, and is a great spectacle. National Day in August sees plenty of patriotic fervour around the country and there are a couple of interesting festivals for anglers.
Perak has no shortage of things to see and do, with attractions wide ranging. Kuala Kangsar has some interesting buildings as well as Malaysia’s first rubber tree, while Teluk Intan is the home of Malaysia’s answer to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Taiping and Lumut are pleasant places to visit, as is Bukit Larut, Malaysia’s first hill station. When you’re done with sightseeing, there are some fantastic beaches for you to relax on.
Perak has two airports that are commonly used by visitors to the state: Ipoh and Pangkor airports. There are a very limited number of international flights at either airport, and these tend to be only from Singapore or Sumatra in Indonesia. Most visitors from outside of the region access Perak via Kuala Lumpur.
