This December marks the 10th birthday of the Penang Jazz Festival, a popular event which draws crowds, as well as some of the finest musicians in the business from across the world. Starting from humble beginnings back in 2004, the festival is now one of the most highly regarded in the region and is eagerly anticipated by fans and performers alike. If you want to attend, let help you book a Penang beach hotel offering easy access to this year's Penang Jazz Festival.

In colonial Georgetown opt for G Hotel Penang, a luxurious 5 star establishment which lies in close proximity to the pristine beach at Gurney Drive and offers well-appointed guest rooms. In Batu Ferringhi the Golden Sands Resort By Shangri-La is a chic modern 4 star hotel offering high service at affordable rates, while in Tanjung Bungah the Flamingo Hotel By The Beach Penang provides cosy 4 star accommodation overlooking the sea.

The 2013 Penang Jazz Festival will take place between 5 and 8 December in the Grand Ballroom at Bayview Beach Resort Penang in Batu Ferringhi. Proceedings will kick off in style with An Evening with Casey Abrams, a talented singer / songwriter who you may remember from the 2011 season of American Idol. Later in the week you can expect a schedule that will be packed with incredible performances from the likes of The Freddy Cole Quartet, Alison Burns and Martin Taylor, the Okan Ersan Quartet and JazzKamikaze.

There will also be a string of talented local artists and musicians lighting up the festival's Fringe Stages, including Sixth Sense, Amrita Soon, JUNK and Funkcoustics. Their concerts are a result of the Creative Malaysia Fringe Programme and will take place in the Hard Rock Hotel Penang, PARKROYAL Penang Resort and Bayview Beach Resort Penang.

If this isn’t a treat enough, the festival organisers have put together a selection of supporting activities and entertainments to sate your musical appetite. Enjoy breakfast to a backdrop of smooth jazz sounds as part of Sunrise @ TSG, a two-hour long morning concert at the Tropical Spice Garden on Saturday, 7 December and if you're a budding jazz musician / vocalist yourself, take full advantage of the selection of workshops available. These include the Vocal Workshop by Alison Burns and Martin Taylor, as well as the Jazz Swing and Jive Music Styles Workshop by Jazz Connection.
