The Golden Sands is great value for money;the staff are polite and helpful;it is central to everything;the facilities are excellent. The only downside is the beach but that is not the resort's fault. The authorities need to clean it up, However the facilities are so good at the Golden Sands you don't need the beach. Penang is one of the most under rated places on earth for a holiday....

This has been a most disappotining family hols for me and my family with the Goldon Sanda. My niece insisted and plan this stay with the hotel due to two past stay there.When we book, the hotel should warn us of it's extensive renovations so as a choice or mental preparation is in placed, felt cheated.After checked in and resting, heavy drilling has awaken us, when asked to change room, the Duty manager says to bear with him for 2 hours, when asked if this is going to go on tomorrow, he says NO, it is the last day of hacking which was a lie as the next day at 4 pm after a long day wanted to take a rest the drilling start.. We thought the handling of this icomplaint can be handled more diplmatic. In general, the facilties were good, the cafe did a good change, however the quality of the food at breakfast has gone down the drain.I guess next year we have to look for better choices.We holiday in Penang every year.

The location of this hotel is good with most of the markets starting near the hotel and long beach cafe not far away. The pool and surrounding bar areas is a fantastic site and the pools are big enough to swim or just laze about. The hotel itself is very old and tired. Requires a good face lift as it had the old musty smell and the decor is very old. Apart from the actual room we stayed in, quite happy with the hotel.

Holtel was excellent, no complaints...however this company (hotel travel.com) is completely incompitent and made life very difficult for both the hotel and me. Don't bok with this company, they're only cheap because they don't include breakfast!!!!!!!!!

It is a great place for family holiday. There are a lot of activities for children. The sea is a bit disappointing, but the hotel garden is so good that the sea does not matter.

Had a great time, the staff are very friendly and helpful. My only concern was that the window in my 5th floor room had no lock on it and my children could easily climbed out onto an open balcony!!! Something should be done to rectify this.

The hotel was great with an excellent atmospheare, the beach was a loverly soft sand and the weather was great, the Hotel staff are some of the best I have ever come across. The only down sides were the watersports activites were not good enough and some of the equipment was old and broken, there need to be more choice here. The sea water also is not that nice, but the pool more than makes up for that. If its a relaxed beach front hotel holiday you want then this is deffinetly the place to be.
