My sea view room on the 16th floor was very comfortable - better than more expensive beach hotels in Batu Ferringhi. Room was quiet, well furnished and clean. I liked the complimentary bowl of fruit, bottled water, dressing gown and slippers. Great views and within easy walking distance of Gurney Plaza. It was also pleasant to walk along the sea front esplanade each morning. Complimentary shuttle bus to town run only once a day. It's definitely a good 5-Star hotel. I like the location most. Its sea-facing, very pleasant, along the scenic Gurney Drive. There are alot of eating places, with local food fare and seafood restaurants at reasonable prices. Definitely a recommended hotel to stay in in Penang.

Located on one of the big, posh roads of Penang, near to a nice big mall with cinema and eating places with easy access to taxis, Evergreen Laurel was pleasant to stay in however, the decor was a little dated but to a good standard. Our room overlooked the sea which was nice. Whilst it is on a sea front, the beach is a 15-20 minute taxi ride away. The pool and sauna facilities are nice and family friendly. The food was OK and the staff were helpful but their English isn't as good as in Kuala Lumpur. Hotels are more expensive in Penang when compared with KL, so don't expect the same value for money.

Comfortable, good view, choice of bathrobes, fruit available. The pool area didn't have much atmosphere and it was difficult to locate the towels. Helpful and friendly staff. Far from public transport - but otherwise perfect. Taxis available within minutes but nearest bus stop 15 minutes away. Sea promenade opposite. Local restaurants nearby. Breakfast pretty average. Good hotel on the edge of the city.
