Copthorne Orchid Hotel Reviews
Aj from Canada stayed in a Standard sea facing-room only for 2 days in September.
Friendly and efficient staff who worked to accommodate our needs and wants given rooms are somewhat dated as to design and state of repair. We would stay here again as long as not assigned a room on the top floor due to leaky roof at this point in time. Friendly staff who worked hard to accommodate our concerns and needs. Good value for money but top floor rooms leak in stormy weather. No beachfront but large swimming pool/deck and complimentary shuttle is a bonus, as well. Great samosas in the Terrace Restaurant while the spaghetti was a little overcooked. The Spa offered a special on its services one of the days we were there and the reflexology foot massage was excellent. Taxis were easily arranged for by the Front Office desk.Hotel Facilities

Vesna from Germany stayed in a Standard for 2 days in September.
Fantastic service - attentive when you need it, but quiet and in background when not needed. Friendly, pleasant, and professional. Had a wonderful stay here, total 11 days. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Oldish, yes, but for value - cannot be beat.Hotel Facilities

Leo from Netherlands stayed in a Standard for 4 days.
Adjourned to the hotel (about 20 meters) is an estate existing of 3 skycrapers, 3 x height of the hotel. If you are "lucky" enough to get a room on that site you will be able to study the parking layers of that estate (The Cove) Not anywhere on the hotel's adverts on the internet these buildings are mentioned nor visible and they take away any seaview from that side of the hotel. Horrible!
2 x the bedlinen of our rooms were not changed during our 4-night stay. Visible from the nail polish dropped by the kids. When you are in the room they change it otherwise not. They do only vacuum the floor when you are present...The kids played one day with flowers and 2 days later these flowers were still on the floor.
The breakfast is focused on Asians with Noodles and Rice and for Western people they only have simple slices of bread with marmelade and an egg station. Forget anything about coldcuts (ham/bacon/chicken/etc) or cheese...They have not heard of that. Potato puree is made from a prefabricated powder bag. Bread is put on display at 5 am uncovered. Breakfast is awful and a disgrace!
Insufficient staff in dining area near the pool. at 3.30 pm still 3 tables covered with lunch remainders, plates and other dirt and no waiters to be seen inside or outside the dining area. Shame! In general insufficient staff. Bell captain is also doing the pool cleaning and helping serving lunch when they have a group for a seminar. When that happens you have no luggage support nor somebody to call you a cab.Lucky enough to have a room on the other side of the corridor where the elevator is located. When you are in your bed you hear the people talking and the sound of the elevator is equal to the turning sound of a washing machine. Very relaxing......
The so called private beach is a disgrace.....About 10 meters wide and unbelievable dirty with plastic bottles, clothes, etc. No chairs, no guards, nothing. No working water hose to clean from the seawater and or sand of the beach. To get to the beach you have to take an elevator down from the 7th floor where the swimming pool is located. All images you see about that "beach" are heavy photoshopped. No wifi in the hotel besides the swimmingpool area.
Location is centralized between Batu Ferringhi and Georgetown with plenty of taxi's either way (RM 15) or with excellent public transportation for RM 2/person.

Teck from Malaysia stayed in a Standard for 2 days.
My family and I had a rather comfortable stay at the hotel - room was was at a high floor - rather clean and comfortable. The beach area was rather small and not properly maintained - not a place for those who want to enjoy their day at the beach though. Nice pool to work out, and a compact gym. On the whole, the hotel stay was value for money, especially for those who just want a place to stay and run around Penang island.Hotel Facilities

A HotelTravel.com Member from Singapore stayed in a Standard for 5 days.
hotel is a bit run-down. no change for the breadfast varieties during my 5 days stay. opposite the hotel there's a eating place & a few shops, there's also a bus-stop just a few steps away from the hotel, where u can take a public bus to Komtar or the town area. althought the hotel do provide transport to town & the night market, but if u prefer to do it the own-time-own-target way, then taking the public bus will b a much cheaper way than taking the taxi. and even though there's a small beach behind the hotel, but its more for kids to build sand castle rather than having a swim or a tan. the plus point is u really get a nice view of the sea from ur balcony (provider u are not staying facing the condo next to it!)!!Hotel Facilities
