At the heart of Old Malacca lies the Puri Hotel. This charming, boutique hotel is just 30 minutes from highway and 10 minutes from the bus station. The Puri is a restored Peranakan house that retains its classic and charming appeal, so guests will feel like they have traveled back in time once they stepped inside. Hotel facilities include spacious conference rooms and packaged tours.

Rated #5 for all Melaka hotels
Although we have mostly rated the hotel itself as average we would recommend it to anyone because of its charm and history and the wonderful staff. It is also excellent value for money and very well located. We loved the China Town location, nestled among quaint shops and narrow streets all within walking distance of the historic Melaka township. We would return in a heart beat!...

This is a beautiful hotel with a peaceful ambience in the heart of China Town. The room was a bit small and the breakfast dissappointing. However, the beautiful courtyard as well as the interesting design and history of the hotel made for a very pleasant stay. I would definitely recommend the Puri to friends visiting Melaka.

Excellent location for historic Melaka. Polite and helpful staff. Very attractive courtyards and antique local style lounge.

I had high hopes when I booked a room here, was even more elated when i reached the hotel where I stayed. Sad to say, that excitement quickly wore off when I was served by a cold and unfriendly counter staff who did not even bother to smile and look at me in the eye. I feel the the hotel, despite it's noble setting and quiant ambience, is very badly managed. Almost a disappointment to someone who has so much thrill about living in a shophouse occupied by ancient inhabitants centuries ago. Malaysia hotels has never been famous for hospitality but I expect a boutique development like Puri to have at least the minimum service standard of a develop nation. But I was totally disappointed. The architecture was badly thought through as the designer only paid attention to the 'grand' public areas but failed to inject character into the individual rooms. Though I've booked a RM270 room, but the standard of the room looks like a budget hourly rate hotel I've come across in Singapore. I think the developer has a wrong connotation of value for money. Thye should instead use limited resources to bring out the character of a shophouse. My room overlooks the smoky kitchen before and fronts the dirty uninhabited backlane. I do not think I will recommend any of my friends or colleagues to stay there before the reason mentioned above.
