as the the westin langkawi is located on a little hill you always have to go by taxi to kuah town or walk 20 minutes if you want to shop or go for dinner. but the taxi prices are very low so no problem. we enjoyed our stay very very much. staff was very nice at all times and gave us a great feeling of hospitality. we were upgraded to ocean view as our stay was over 7 days. if you want to have a nice beach the westin is not the place to go as the beach is very rocky and you have to walk a couple of minutes.
we were upgraded to ocean view and got a spacious room with balkony.

We chose this hotel as a place to rest and relax before commencing our touring holiday of Malaysia. We are so glad we did! Everything about this hotel is superb. The room was spacious and well appointed with a private outdoor area. Everything one could possibly need was provided, from beautiful wine glasses, coffee maker, robes, beach shoes etc , even bathroom scales (if you felt the need to check how much weight you were putting on!!) The king size bed was luxuriously comfortable and turned down each evening.
The hotel ambience exuded peace, tranquility and rejuvenation enhanced by professional, friendly staff who were always calm and helpful. We found the location perfect - set right on the beach with a short walk to the Marina and a further short stroll to local places of interest. The hotel Concierge staff arranged a taxi for us when we wanted to venture further. The grounds and pool area were beautiful with wonderful swimming areas, plenty of shaded lounge charis and of course a swim up bar and bar service until well into the evening. Just visiting the spa resort to enquire about their pamper packages was relaxing enough - a beautiful, tranquil area away from the main hotel offering a myriad array of massages and treatments! There were a number of restaurants, including beach front and pool area, all offering superb food of amazing variety. The gymnasium was very well equipped and just what we needed to work off all those extra calories! We stayed for 7 days and didn't want to leave, so this is one place we will certainly be returning to each year!

staff was helpful, friendly and anxious at all times.
located on a little hill so you always have to walk 20 minutes to kuah town or take a cab which is not expensive.
different themes every night so everyone could find something. a la carte restaurant and snacks at the bar are also available.
concierge calls cab which is there within 2 minutes. also the westin car (mercedes) could be rented. several tours could be booked in the hotel. prices are almost the same like other offers in kuah town.
6 x the week a girls group is singing in the bar. very nice! if you don't like music you can play billard, table tennis, squash or go to one of the shops or the fitness centre. the view from mainpool to the ocean is stunning!

Stunning and a definite wow factor hotel for us. The room was luxuriously furnished with a massive comfortable bed. The swimming pools are fantastic and are surrounded by very comfortable loungers and all have sun shades. The service was very good and the staff are very friendly. We did find the prices for food and beverage a fairly expensive for Malaysian terms but not unjustifiably so, this is a 5 star hotel so was not a great surprise. The location of the hotel is a 10 minute walk to the marina and a 10 minute taxi ride to the town and a shopping area.
