The hotel is next door and under the same management as the four star resort Holiday Villa and all facilities at the Holiday Villa were available for all guests. If not, this would have been a dreadful experience as the rooms in the Federal Villa were run down and in desperate need of renovation. I was told that it will be underway soon. Our first night we had a room on the groundfloor that we shared with many mosquitos. When we told about the problem they did everything to help and we got another room on higher floor and an electrical mosquito repellant and we did not see a mosquito again. T...

Thank you Hotel Travel for making our vacation possible. Though we were only left with a week from our departure and not hopeful of getting accomodation at langkawi... you made it possible ! Overall, the experience at langkawi has been breathtaking. Peaceful and serene.. surrounded by nature :) The hotel stay was quite a mix of feelings. On one hand, we love the hospitality and service of its staff (though receptionists could put on smiles more often...), on the other hand, the hotel truly needs upgrading of its rooms. When we arrived the first night, we were brought to our room. Upon entering our room, we both decided to request for an upgrade from std to deluxe room (the std room had cobwebs, leaking of water from the ceiling and run-down cupboards). Federal is kinda like chalet style which Holiday Villa is a hotel concept. Facilities were shared with Holiday Villa... Pool was fabulous! Beach was nice (imagine East Coast Beach without litter and vessels). Would highly recommend to rent a car. Transportation to anywhere from hotel is from RM$6 to RM$35 (depending on how far the destination is). No worries about the cab fares, the companies run on standard rates. Langkawi people are very friendly and hospitable. You can even pick a few malay words on your visit there :) Mangrove tour is awesome (managed to feed the fishes, watched eagle feeding and dolphins in the open sea). There are a few eateries just across the hotel. Food at Sunday Bistro is okay (chicken in pandan leaves is delicious), should go there for the ambience at night. However, more variety of food and entertainment are available at a street (15-20 mins walk away, 2-4 mins drive).

The hotel was OK. The swimmingpool is very good. The restaurants are ok, but the food is not very exciting and a little bit to expensive compered to it's quality. The rooms could be better. There's carpets and that's not very hygienic. The bathrooms needs brush-ups. And - don't forget mosquito-equipment!! But all in all - the hotel was nice.

The service, friendliness of staff, restaurants etc were excellent and it is situated on a beautiful stretch of beach. If you don´t mind the older standard at the Federal Villa, you´ll most certainly have a very relaxing holiday!

The beach in front of the hotel is clean and good for swimming. The swimming pool in the hotel is big enough too. Basically, it is a nice hotel for holiday with friends or family, guess the only thing the hotel should improve on is the quality of the buffet breakfast.
