Excellent location, good access to all attractions whether walking or public transport. Only disappointment was we asked for a view of the twin towers, which we did not get. Would definitely recommend....

I enjoyed my stay in Istana because the staff are friendly, the room is big. The washroom is spacious. The rate is reasonable. It is worth to visit this hotel for my next trip to Kuala Lumpur.

I do not like the taxi services. It is awful. No clear communication and the taxi coordinator is not professional at all.

I think the staff are not well orginized, I have booked and paid for 6 nights for deluxe room with kind zise bed, but they have gave me superior room with two beds. then they have changed me to another superior room with king size bed, after the 3rd night, they gave me the deluxe room with king size bed. While in the superior room, I have used the Internet, and they have charged me for it. While in the deluxe room it is free. Also, some things in the room are not well and broken, like the hair dryer, the carpet is dirty and stench. I do recomend staying in this hotel for the nearest to the market and shops only otherwise, it doesn't deserve.

The hotel staff, even though friendly, could of been more accommodating. We were not shown to our rooms (a small thing I know) but should be part of the service for a hotel like this. We had no hot water in our room and informed staff on this issue no less than five times in a three day stay - their solution was to run the water for 15mins, for still luke warm water. The room also had other minor problems (fridge not working, side bed light wouldnt switch off) - staff inform but not nothing done whilst we were staying there. The hotel is built in 1992 and is starting to need renovation in order to fix these issues. Generally though the hotel was very nice and looks good, buffet breakie okay, pool very nice, easy access to shopping, food, restaurants and taxis etc. Would I recommend again? - unlikely, there are a lot of hotels in KL.

What surprises me was that there was no safe deposit box and bathrobes in my room, apart from that I enjoyed my stay.

Excellent hotel within easy walking distance to Sungei Wang Plaza, Lot10, Low Yat and the recently opened Pavilion home to some of the world's most luxurious fashion brands, with over 400 retail shops a very pleasing shopping experience in air conditioned comfort. Hotel staff were friendly and more than willing to assist with any issue, facilities were first rate will definately stay at the Hotel Istana again.

Bathrooms are not very clean. There's a lot of mildew in the shower, and some in the sink.

The best rate and best location ever. Walk away grom Bukit Bintang. also, it is also a walk away from KL tower (15 min walk) and Petronas (23 mins ). so if you like to make ad adventure and explore KL further, i suggest to walk your way to your destination, that is of course if it is within KL. We didn;t try the food but i gave it a good marks anyways. Hotel staff are friendly. Room size is definetly not your ordinary room size. we booked a superior room ata great price. room is spacious overlooking petronas tower and KL tower. toilet is big also, shower and toilet are separate. One thing i can say, you will never regret booking a room at Istana Hotel.

Check in on 18 Nov after midnight. Got a room on the 6th floor but ended up changing room due to a choke in the toilet pipes. Bed is clean and comfortable. TV set sucks (small and old). Toilet is big and spacious though. Not a bad choice to stay but a bit pricey for the condition of stay.

Chinese New Year
14 Feb 10

Chinese New Year marks the first day of the first new moon, and is celebrated all over Malaysia. Most of the larger towns and cities organise performances, firework displays and traditional lion and dragon dances. Most people choose to celebrate the new year with family and friends, and children often receive small gifts of money from their relatives.
